Hong Kong vs Shenzhen vs Guangzhou
Will be travelling to Hong Kong (6 days) with 3 other women in mid September. First time for all of us, however, I was in mainland China last year. I've heard so many pros and cons about where to shop, so I thought I'd get your opinion(s). Beijing and Shanghai were virtual bargain meccas but half the fun was bargaining at the open markets and returning with fun (and inexpensive) gifts. Handpainted snuff bottles, silk placemats, small porcelain curios and of course, the token rip-off wallets and handbags. Woodblocks and watercolors on rice paper were also very cheap. Has HK changed so much that my bargains in China will seem like a steal? Will I get better value in Shenzhen and/or Guangzhou? We lucked out with a travel package of $700/person (rt airfare and 5 nights at the Kowloon Shanghai). We hope to be as lucky with our shopping. Thanks for your input.

Coincidentally, something relevant to this just posted under the heading 'Hong Kong Trip Questions'.
