Is there taxi or guide service from Muroran to Sapporo?

We will be on a cruise ship, docking in Muroran for the day. We would like to book a guide, taxi or travel service, to take us to Sapporo to see the major sites. Would be most grateful for any help...

Sandy,

I can recommend Masa Ohashi with Nextag - [email protected] He was wonderful. He company is in Sapporo(there were no tour companies in Muroran). He met us and a couple other groups from the ship at the dock to see us off and be sure everything was OK. Each group had a nice, new, large, black car. The drivers didn't speak much English(very few do) but we both had a printed Itinerary and had no problems at all. Plus Mr Ohashi called us during the trip to check if all was well. The Driver had a cell phone and we had Mr Ohashi's phone#.

Hope this helps. Japan is a wonderful country!!

We did a big lopp seeing all the points of interest that the ship was seeing on their different tours. That appealed tp us more than a modern city as we had spent some time in Japan before we f\left on the cruise.

CWN... thank you so much for the info. If you would be so kind... I would love to know what the cost was for such a tour... per person or by the vehicle? I gather you traveled from Muroran to Sapporo. If correct, how long did it take to drive between those 2 cities? I would also like to know what sites you saw. Thank you in advance for your help.

Sady,

My notes say 40,000Y. It was per vehicle. We didn't go to Sapporo. We really were not interested in another big, modern city, which Sapporo pretty much is, sense we had just been to Osaka, Kyoto, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Hokkaido is a beautiful island with very beautiful countryside, much more rural than the lower part of Japan, so we wanted to see some of that.

We went to Lake Toya and the over to Mt Usu and rode the gondola. Absolutely beautiful veiws!! Then we took a back road through some wondeful, scenic farm country with mountain views and ski areas on the way to Shiroi and the Ainu Village. Then we went to Noboribertsu Onsen, had a bit to eat(some people from the ship spent the day at the Hot Springs) and visied the Valley of Hell. Finally we drove back to the ship along the coast stoppong at some of the scenic places. The guide also stopped at some of his favorite places that we didn't know about. One was a little out of the way lodging on a small lake. The owner and his son were diving in full wet gear working on the little boats getting ready for the tourist season. The water still had ice in places!!! It was a great day, cool with bright sunshine.

CWN... thank you for the speedy reply. Your day sounds perfectly wonderful. I've already e-mailed Masa Ohashi but haven't heard back yet. Looking forward to booking the tour.
