We are thinking of going to LP November 20-23.
Any insights on weather then? Will if be hot?
Are there lots of mosquitoes that time of year?

Also, I am trying to find a way to book reservations at the Luang Prabang View Resort (previously the Shinta Mani). Does anyone have an email address?
I realize I could use Agoda but have often found direct contact gets better rates and room options.
Also, if anyone has any insights on the hotel or highly recommends an alternative that'd be great to hear. We'd prefer A/C, a quieter setting with pool, and good mosquito precautions,

That's the link to historic weather info for Luang Prabang. We were there in November 10 years ago. It was very warm during the day, we appreciated a late afternoon dip in the swimming pool at our hotel (and we seldom use pools). Out on the river, it was cool enough we needed long sleeved shirt or a light jacket. Evenings, eating outside, a light wrap was useful. Locals called this weather the beginning of "winter." It was very pleasant.

we were there in nov too and it was nice--on the hot side.. some mossies but not bad..

you guys will love it... make sure you eat at L'Elephant, not the one on the main street

Sorry, I can't help with the hotel contact. There were plenty of mosquitoes, but they sprayed for them at the hotel weekly, so we weren't bothered much.

The weather in November should be nice with low humidity and even cool - cold nights.

End of November/December........watch out....in can get surprisingly cold. Luang Prabang is 1000 ft up and the temperature at night can drop quite a lot........unlike for instance, the Thai coast which varies little between day and night.

I travel by car so I was able to take such things as sweater, Jacket and a large sleeping bag that opens out as a duvet....and I was glad of them all.

My hotel had air, but no heater and rather skimpy bedclothes so the sleeping bag was used every night. Some of the guests were complaining that they were so cold they couldn't sleep.

In the morning or evening I saw lots of tourists who has clearly underestimated the coolness and had bought various extra layers of clothing to get by. There were also one or two who although clearly uncomfortable, were stubbornly refusing to admit that they could be so cold this close to the Equator.

Many people go out for a boat rip around sunset, they get caught out too sometimes. THe Afternoon sun ca be quite fierce, but as it sets the temperature can drop dramatically and a pleasant boat ride can turn into a chilly disappointment.

If you fancy getting a bit of a discount, tell the hotel you won't need the air-con, you might get lucky and negotiate a reduction!

As for the Hotel - I'd say it's a trade-off between view and location.
It's a bit far from th river front and the centre - you might get fed up of walking into town....but I expect they have some shuttle service?
