thursdaysd-
I think we may have to start a BA (blurb anonymous) support group, lol.
"Hello, my name is Kristina and I am addicted to Blurb..."
I would really like to make a book about the RTW trip my husband and I did in 1998-99. Unfortunately, the only camera we had with us on that trip was the "brand new technology" of the time, a digital camera which produced photos no greater than 640x480. At the time it seemed so cool and they looked ok online, but they look horrible in print. Breaks my heart.
As for global text changes, no, I don't think it's possible. I did a quick search of their Help and forums and could not find much, except a comment that it might be available in new version in Late Summer 2008. But from what I can tell, it's not there.
You might want to go into their forums and post it as a question again. The support people who work at Blurb post a lot of answers there. Or, you could email them directly.

kristina - cool, we could have the blurb anon. meetings right after the fodors anon. & the solitaire anon. meetings!
Thanks for the warning about picture size. I was immediately worried about my first digital photos from 2001, but it looks like they are 1024 x 768. (My next project is Kerala for the friend who joined me there for Christmas 2001.)

thursdaysd-make sure you look at the optimal picture size in the picture boxes on your blurb page (hover over it with your mouse and it should tell you).
I would not go below the optimal size listed, even if it looks good on the screen.
My understanding is that the software won't give you the warning icon unless the photo is substantially smaller than optimal size so you could still inadvertently end up with a picture which does not look good.
My husband wants me to go ahead make the book about our RTW trip. Since I already have the text written (our website was one of the first travelogue "blogs" out there), I think the book will end up more text-heavy with small photos scattered throughout. Problem is, the optimal size for 640x480 is about 2"x1.5". It's going to be tough.
