Sorry if it sounded like an ad. I posted this account because in doing research online there was a decided lack of up to date information on the subject. The only information we had to go on were some dated stories and of course the hospital websites themselves. Those are most certainly ads for their services and one has to take them with a grain of salt. Up until experiencing the hospital first hand we weren't quite sure of what to expect which was a bit scary. Hope this might someone else who’s thinking about doing this.

Thanks for this, PinotNoir. Huge difference in price. How is your wife feeling about the results? Too soon to tell?

I have laid out some pretty indisputable evidence therein and based partially on that, my conclusion has to be quite different from yours.
Furthermore, I'm not just basing it on my personal experience either, my main concerns are based on the obvious and glaring shortcomings that are inherent in the Thai healthcare industry.
The result is that anyone who uses the Thai system is indulging in a lottery with their own health.

My experience of the Thai healthcare system was in Bhumnigrad where I attended for a CT scan. Whilst efficient and prompt, they were intent on "upselling" additional services and unnecessary procedures at every step.
Worryingly, when I requested copies of my scan they also emailed the entire medical file of a lady undergoing treatment there. I realised the file was not mind as soon as a saw the procedures being undertaken!I contacted the hospital who didn’t seem to think that patient confidentiality was a big deal. They asked me to delete the file which did but when I asked whether my records were safe, the replied "of course" .
Re the previous post "I have laid out some pretty indisputable evidence" - Where? In any of your posts , I cannot see that you have provided any evidence, indisputable or otherwise.
If you do have any real evidence, do please share it. I am sure potential users of the Thailand healthcare would be keen to learn from your experience.

1. The surgeon when asked why her incision was so big replied “because you have a big butt” leaving her in tears. He did not return my calls, I reported him to hospital admin. and we fired him.
2. Her records to take home included a scan report for a different patient.
3. They let her blood sugars (Mom is diabetic) skyrocket until I strongly suggested then add sliding scale insulin coverage.
4. The PA removed her dressing and left her open wound exposed. She said putting on a new dressing in the nurses job.
5. The post op Coumadin instructions given to us were not the same as the actual instructions on the prescriptions.
6. We were promised f/u by the hospital VP which never came.

She is about six weeks post-op and she is doing quite well and had no complications. The black and blue marks have completely gone away and there's no more swelling at all. She is very, very happy with the results--if you look at her today there are no visible scars yet her face doesn't have anything like the Frankenstein look that some Hollywood folks seem to have. Looks very natural and the things that were bothering her are all gone. I'm pretty amazed as I never had any experience with this type of thing.

Not an endorsement. If she would have had a bad experience I would have reported that, too. It's just a story for people to read. Of course you don't have to believe everything that you read online. Have you ever written about a travel experience you had? And then been belittled and trolled? Sheesh.

Thank you for reporting on your experience, Pinot Noir. I know it isn't pleasant to be attacked by KW, but you are in good company.

Pinot Noir, ignore Debbie Downer. He never posts anything useful; he seems to delight in belittling or embarrassing others.
I enjoyed your trip report, since, these days many people use foreign hospitals and it's nice to hear personal experiences.
I ripped my rotator cuff while in Bangkok and and had some excellent care at Bumrungrad. I keep my hospital card with my passport and would happily return there if i ever needed care again in Bangkok. This is not an ad, it is a personal endorsement, just like I would share my endorsements of hotels or restaurants in Bankgok!
PS- Hi Kathie! Hope all is going well with you. Not sure, buy I may be in Seattle in late April or May. I'll let you know if it happens, as I'd love to see you!

I've also had good care at Bumrungrad. Likewise, I keep my hospital card with me when I am traveling in SE Asia.
lcuy, Cheryl and I would love to see you. Let us know when you will be in Seattle.

I too do not consider this post an advertisement. Stopped by Bumrungrad hospital last December for some routine tests and thought the experience was just fine. Hi Kathie! How are you doing?

It has been 90 days since my wife's surgery at Yanhee and she is "thrilled and delighted" with the results. I'm quite pleased and so are all of her friends. She has had no ill effects and has no regrets but acknowledges that it was no picnic the first few days and was glad that she was able to spend four nights in the hospital for her surgery. We feel that our extensive research and realistic expectations really paid off.

Thanks for reporting back to us. Everyone I know who has had medical care in Bangkok has good things to say about it.
