Possible switch of BKK hotel
Considering a last-moment change in our arrival hotel in Bangkok, as we're trying to shave a bit off the overall trip bugdet.
Currently, we're slated to stay at the Eugenia, which I've been looking forward to--but, the reality is that in 3 nights we'd be there: 1 will be spent in a jet-lagged coma, 1 will be our only free night and the other comes after a long day with Tong. So how much is a place that's that much going to be worth it?
Anything over the $200 range is what I'm trying to steer away from.
So did some snooping around and like the sound of places like Triple Two Silom or possibly Dream. Any feedback on those two? Their location? Or...any better suggestions?
Interesting, charming and comfy beds are always a plus.

Check this place out:
www.s15hotel.com
Look for packages. Junior suite.
I've stayed here three times. It's easy.
Dream I like too. But the rooms are really tiny for two. Both in soi 15, Sukumvit.

I've walked past S15. It looks very interesting. As you know, if you read my posts, I like staying in the Sukhumvit area (I like the Adelphi Suites on soi 8) because it is close to shopping, the skytrain, great restaurants, etc. IMO, it is very important to be near a skytrain station when in Bangkok.

S15 does look nice, but Dream still looks nicer. I'm curious, dogster, about how small these rooms actually are. The Deluxe Room (unfortuantely the Suite is out of our price range) is 35 square meters...so if my rusty calculations are correct that's about 375 square feet. That seems like a REALLY small New York City hotel. Hmm...
I suppose we could survive--my better half REALLY likes the look of Dream and really is responding to the modern Thai look and feel. So I guess my question is: would it be uncomfortable for 2 people? We won't have much luggage (2 duffel bags) and we'll barely be in our room, I think, if only to sleep. The bed does sound rather cozy, I must say.
I would love to stay here, but if it's a closet and we'll hit the far wall when we get out of bed, I'm not sure if this is the place for us or not.

Hi film: yup, it is a closet - but it's a ver-r-r-y cool closet - and it's got those just fantastic blue lights under the bed.
I travel solo and I reckon it's small - you'll be very acquainted with your partners more err.. intimate moments - and vice versa.
but those fantastic blue lights make up for everything. And, the bed is great. And the flat screen T.V. - and, and, and.
The staff are casual and fine. It's close to restaurants and stuff.
But I reckon, reading between the lines, that's that where your partner wants to go - for a whole lotta great reasons - so, you should check it out. Just deal with it being small and concentrate on it being kinda grrroovy. lol.
Go read tripadvisor - I bet there's a million comments - thin wall and blah and blah and its all true.
But those blu-u-u-u-e lights.. ahhh.

S, thanks for the suggestion! We're there from the 6th to the 9th of December and then again on the 19th and 20th.
Have interest from Hanuman and Carol for a mini-GTG for the latter portion, when we're all in BKK.
Perhaps you'll be in town as well?

Current exch rate, dollar vs baht, is at 34.758, so 3400 baht is just less than $100. When I left BKK less than two weeks ago, the latest rate was just over 34.0, so the trend is upwards for the dollar.

I did a report on LUXX a couple of years ago as I had a walk through of the place. The rooms are very small and there's not a lot of sunlight coming in. and the view was of the wall of another building that was VERY close. The staff was very nice and helpful though. Happy Travels!
