Recommendation for Krabi - Feb 2009 - Railay Bay Resort?
Hello - looking for resort/hotel recommendations for Krabi for Feb 2009 - for a family of 4 (4 year old and 10 month old).
Would love to be on a pictureque sandy beach with some local (non-hotel) restaurants nearby for cheap atmospheric eats, perhaps a few beach bars but nothing too noisy. Need air con, pool, nothing too hilly. Don't mind a boat trip to get there (e.g. railay beaches). DH would like to go rock climbing. Ideally would like to stay somewhere where there will be other families - not intruding on the honeymooners - and so there will be other children for 4 yr old to play with.
We are staying at Katathani also whilst there but v happy for this part of the stay to look at smaller villa style resorts with a laidback atmosphere to contrast with this - I'm an ageing backpacker at heart and would like to stay somewhere laidback but a little bit more comfortable than the A frame beach huts we used to stay in of old! But also happy to look at bigger hotels if would otherwise suit our wishes. Price - maximum I guess would be 10000B per night but would love it to be much cheaper!
Considering Railay Bay Resort - anyone stayed there? Looking at the privacy cottage.

That's probably your best choice. I really like the Sunrise Tropical, but it's on the rocky east beach. There were a lot of families at both resorts when I was there last August, so don't worry too much about that.
