I just looked up the website for Johor Bahru airport (http://www.senaiairport.com) and found that there is a bus service for MAS customers from downtown Singapore to the airport that costs 16 Ringgit (about AUS$5.50) and takes 45 minutes. It runs about every two hours, sometimes every hour. This might be the fastest way even at rush hours, as they may expedite customs for MAS passengers and give other preferences at immigration. Take a look at the website (from the main page, click on Passenger Info, then Getting Around, then MAS Shuttle Service.

Thanks Cicerone. I too found the "Shedule for SPS Services" by a google enquiry, a few days ago. It runs from the Copthorne Orchid Hotel. Still waiting to hear from direct rooms if the Copthorne will do a day room deal for us, then we'll use the shuttle option. Otherwise the MTR is looking good. Thanks again for your very kind input!

Hi Folks
There is no preferance in the jam for the MAS bus. The jam is on Singapore side and why should they encourage & give preferance to MAS. Even AirAsia had thier request to provide bus transport for thier ticket holders have been rejected by the Govt.
Even in smooth traffic it will take atleast 1.5 hours to reach the Airport so 45mins is really out of question. I am not sure how they got this as the distance from Downtown to JB costoms is about 35km and from there to the Airport is another 30kms.

I am referring to Malaysian immigration and customs, which may process MAS passengers more quickly. Having been on the other side (i.e. returning from Malaysia) on many Sunday evenings, our biggest delay was S’pore immigration and customs, not the Malaysian side; and I assume the same is true for returning Malaysians. NO one is much interested in who is leaving, people are more concerned with who is coming in and what they are bringing.

i travel to delhi-singapore and delhi mumbai frequently visiting parents/relatives so non-business, and hence have a nose for the cheapest tickets on the sector. Malaysian Air has some great (read fixed days travel and return/no refund) deals ex SIN to Delhi/Mumbai. JB tickets are almost the same price, ofcourse adding the hassle of going to Senai. the last i reckon there was a Sing $675 to delhi on MAS and a Sing$555 to Mumbai on Cathay. The place to checkout deals to india is definitely mustafa travels, currently the 24 hour grand-daddy of all inexpensive deals. Jesal brothers on High St. are also good in the sector. Misa travels is the bargain hunters paradise for most other sectors. My two cents... google and find the phone numbers, all these 3 places book on phone, mustafa books 24 hours!
