Taxi from HCMC airport

Hi folks,
Need your help again. My flight arrives in Saigon at 10:10PM this coming Monday night which means I'll probably get luggage and out of customs close to 11ish. My hotel for the first three nights in Saigon (Thang Long Hotel) only offers pickup up until 9PM. What I'd like to know is if there is a section of the airport to go to get a taxi that I can trust. I would imagine that plenty of folks will try to 'help' as soon as we enter the public area of the airport but I'd like to bypass them (with my 73 year old father) and go straight to ..???... to catch a legit cab. Hotel said the fare will be right at $10US.

Help!!

Thanks in advance and I'll -

type to you later....

There's a taxi desk right outside as you leave the building. No need to search for it. Just be sure to have the hotel name and address handy.

The cost to get to District 1 s/b no more than 70,000 VND (around $4.25). If the taxi wants to charge $10, they are trying to overcharge you. Just be sure they use the meter.

Thanks folks. I will find the taxi stand. My hope is that they will be open at 11:30PM???

Also, I have the name of the hotel and the address - in english. (Thang Long Hotel in Dist. 1) Will that suffice at midnite with the taxi drivers?

Thanks again.

You must be on United 867. Yes, there will be taxis there. There were when I arrived on that flight. Am sure the taxi drivers know the schedule - a 747 carries a lot of taxi customers.

Yep, that's my flight. I'll be the guy getting into the airport with the big word TOURIST printed on my forehead. (smile)

I'm assuming that the taxi folks will be able to read english and understand the address of my hotel.

Also, thanks for the rule of thumb advice on the dong exchange rate.

"I'm assuming that the taxi folks will be able to read english and understand the address of my hotel".

That's a big assumption. Hope you made it!
