Tokyo Shopping: Sports Team Tees
Hi, Fodorites.
I'm hoping to buy some tees for my niece and nephew while in Tokyo, and they love baseball. Hoping to find some Tokyo Giants gear for them, but I recall the last time I was there, I had a hard time finding that sort of thing. There WERE jerseys, but they were hugely expensive.
Any Tokyo experts have an idea where I might be able to find souvenir tees like that, without spending an arm and a leg?
(Also, niece wants Pokemon stuff, but I imagine I'll have less trouble...?)
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

What's "hugely expensive"? For sports in which there is a difference, "replica" jerseys in the US go for $80-100 or more; "official" jerseys are 50% higher. For sports that just sell "game jerseys" like the NFL, it's minimum $75 for youth sizes, 100 for adults. Basically, this is what stuff costs and in Japan it may be comparatively higher (e.g., 10K yen for a youth jersey or some such).
You're better off buying t-shirts or knockoffs.

Yes, was asking about tee shirts, not the jerseys--which I thought was clear in my post. Was wondering if anyone who actually knew where there might be cheap tee shirts (like $15-$30) to buy.
In CHicago, I'd direct someone to a Walgreen's or to a specific souvenir shop. Was wondering if any experts on Tokyo had ever seen a place like this.

Am in Tokyo now, and truly difficult to find the sports team tees. I did head over to Tokyo Dome City (the Tokyo Dome is where the Giants play). An easy-enough ride on the subway, and if you need to shop for kids, there is a shopping area just adjacent to the Dome along Crystal Avenue, where there are lots of shops for the popular characters in manga and animated TV. Really geared toward kids.
There were a couple stores between the gates to the Dome. One by UnderArmour, and another that seemed larger and more representative of Japanese ball teams (though mostly Giants gear).
Tokyo Giants replica jerseys were $25-$35. The official jerseys were over $100. There is a free-size (one size fits all) for adult men, but really translates to about a men's large. There may be larger sizes in the expensive jersey-line, but I didn't even look at that price. There are smaller sizes for children. Under-amour appears to be the maker, and there's hats and other workout gear with the Giants logo for $30 (hats) and $25-$30 (workout tees).
Lots of other stuff like printed towels, handkerchiefs, tote bags, Hello Kitty-Giants co-branded stuff, cookies & crackers, calendars, etc.
