Brisbane hotel
I will be staying overnight in Brisbane after a long flight from Europe. I know I will want to sleep. Flight next day is not till late afternoon so I dont have to stay right at airport. Any suggestions for a quiet hotel where I will feel safe as a single woman? I dont really want to pay more than $150. Thanks in advance.

Hi Greynomad,
Not too many places in Brisbane that you'd need to worry about.
I usually prefer apartment hotels (more space, kitchen, no housemaids)and have stayed at the Oaks group quite a few times.
The 3 I've used are Oaks Felix, Oaks Aurora & Oaks 212 Margaret Street. They're close to the river - nice for a walk and close to restarants etc.
Also stayed at the Mantra on Queen, which is closer to the centre of town, near the Queen Street Mall.
These often have good weekend deals as their main customers are business travellers.
Have a look at www.wotif.com.au - Brisbane CBD.

The easiest way to get to Brisbane from the airport is the Skytrain, so I'd recommend staying somewhere on the line. That way you save taxi fares and it's an easy return journey.
Some possibilities are: Rydges on Southbank (not sure if you could get it for $150 probably more like $180-200) or I've stayed at Lime near to Fortitude Valley. Rydges can be noisy if there's a function on the top floor.

We have stayed several times at the Holiday Inn which is actually at Roma Street Station - so is very easy if you are coming from the Airport on the train.
It is a typical Holiday Inn, and we found it to be a very easy and pleasant place to stay.

Hi Greynomad,
Can you let me know what date you require the accommodation for. Your budget is a little tight but as Bokhara says above you can grab the odd bargain or two.
Just let me know the date and I'll do some research for you.
Cheers
