Need Adv. 10 dys, Best of Australia and New Zealand
Traveling in January, 2007, need itinerary advise, and time for each city visited, or tour company for Australia and New Zealand. We will only have time for a glimpse, what are the most must see areas or cities.
Thanks,
Cat

Cat, I would only do one or the other. We spent 10 days on the North Island of New Zealand, and didn't get to do everything we would have liked there, much less visit the South Island. Factor in travel time between NZ and Australia, and you won't be seeing much except airports and plane interiors.
What are you interested in seeing and doing? Knowing that will help us give you better advice on where to go.

I would like a glimpse of Australia and New Zealand, the best parts, so I can then come back and explore. Kinda like a city tour.
I will find out from the other couple traveling with us how much vacation time they have. I am thinking maximum 12 days on the ground, two days travel. I am coming from Cali, they are coming from east coast.
I would like to see Sydney, great barrier reef, and probably spend more time in New Zealand, only because someone I met at a restaurant from the area told me there is more to see in New Zealand.
Your comments are deeply appreciated.

Sometimes you have to make the best of the time you have! How about three nights in Sydney, fly to Cairns, three nights there (or Port Douglas, or Palm Cove), then fly to Auckland for the remaining nights. Can you fly direct from Cairns to Auckland? That would save you some time.
In Sydney, do a harbour cruise, walk around the Rocks, Opera House, take the ferry to Manly for lunch.
Cairns - hire a car and drive along the coast to Port Douglas (great market on Sundays), do a day trip to Kuranda and the Atherton Tableland, or take a boat out to the reef.
Auckland - day trip to Bay of Islands, day trip to Coramandel Pensinsula, take the ferry across to Devonport.
