In looking at the offering - maybe I best spend some more money! I looked at Napoleon on Kent and, although I wondered how peacefl it might be, I check and it's booked! I was also surprised that what I thought was Potts Point was actually Kings Cross.

There are a few others though - Cremorne, /sydney south. ec.

I did check a few that were rentals but they had exorbitant cleaningfees $155. to clean - wow that's high (or so I thought) so now I'll hopefully get some ideas from 750 to 1000 aud. and again, thanks for your help everyone.

LN - sorry I haven't been back about Canberra apartments before now, it slipped my mind.

Well ... never having stayed in any of them myself (I live here, after all) recommend from experience, but one that stood out when I checked www.wotif.com (search on Canberra, 2BR apts) was the ANU University House. Apparently they've been refurbished, and the location is the peaceful Australian National University campus, walking distance to the city centre ("Civic&quot, the National Museum and Commonwealth Park on the lakeshore, home of the annual Floriade flower spectacular. This would be a nice change from the run-of-the-mill serviced apartment complex.

As an alternative there are several properties at Kingston, another convenient location next door to the Parliamentary Triangle and with decent restaurants and coffee shops on the doorstep. Also, you're not far from Manuka, the liveliest after-dark place in Canberra with a big choice of eateries. My guess is that Kingston Court, Kingston Terrace and the Griffin Hotel would all be reasonable choices. Wotif are currently advertising AU$150 for University House, about AU$160 for Kingston Court and Kingston Terrace, and about AU$200 for the Griffin Hotel (which from memory isn't a hotel as such, more serviced apartments like the others).
