Hi Everyone,
I just got back from attending what could be called the Aussie Specialist Convention, held on Hamilton Island this year, and then a trip afterwards to Hayman, the Blue Mountains and Sydney.
Tourism Australia's LA office was on Hamilton Island with us, and they were hoping to announce this at the big Gala Dinner on the last night, but apparently Harpo Production people are "challenging" to work with, and they didn't QUITE have all the i's dotted; however, the next morning they did announce it, and I can tell you everyone at Tourism Australia is pretty excited about this amazing opportunity.
Doesn't matter if you like Oprah or not - she's got a FORTY MILLION audience and we all know that she can make someone's career, whether it's Dr. Oz, Dr. Phil, Nate Berkous or an author.
Further, I sat next to one of the directors of the New South Wales Tourism office for dinner and she is BEYOND excited as to what this will do for Sydney.
They've got their work cut out for them between now an Oprah Time!

talk on "Gruen transfer" last night raised the issue of promotion with one of the ad guys who works the tourism Australia account. he said Australia is already a place people in US want to come to but the big hold back is the distance but the big thing about the Oprah trip is others will see people who do the trip!!!!
