Reasonable Fares with Malaysia Airlines

Just seen an ad from Malaysia Airlines for flights to Australia & New Zealand from UK, US etc for what appears to be good prices, once they add the additional charges sometimes its a different story.

Here's the link anyway http://hq.malaysiaairlines.com/contest/specialfares.asp

I have flown twice with Malaysian Airlines, a good airline company.

Back when Continental flew to Australia, they offered a round-the-world fare with Malaysian filling the Australia to Europe sectors. The Business class fare was close to the Qantas/American economy fare. The business class on Malaysian was excellent but I heard many complaints about the overcrowding in economy.

Geordie, the times I flew with Malaysian Airlines, I flew economy, and I found it to be excellent. I found the cabin crew to be better than Thai Airways. The one thing that I always do, is to have a one night stopover at KL, (Hotel right at the airport), with a good nights sleep, then get up early, swim in the pool, a nice breakfast, then board the Malaysian Airlines flight, through to Heathrow, London (being a daylight flight all the way)

I rate Malaysian Airlines 2nd only to Singapore Airlines, their fleet is modern, seatback TV's in Economy/coach and very pleasant cabin crew. They do not have as many flights as Singapore Airlines into Australia ( who have at last counted at least 10 every single day ! ) but they still have a lot of choice of flights and go to destinations in Australia other long carriers don't. You can also often get good deals for a beach trip from KL to penang or langkawi for very little extra.

A point worth considoring if you aee doing Australia plus NZ is Emirates as they have now lots of flights through to Australian destination that also continue to Auckland or Christchurch, so if you are doing both you can stick with one carrier all the way.
