Nov 15/16/17 is when corals of Great Barrier Reef willl spawn in an annual mass spectacular synchronised event, most commonly 3-5 days after full moon.

Could easily be Susan.
Lots of media attention in Queensland on the super industrialisation of Gladstone and its harbour dredging with detrimental affect on long-established fishing industry.
I thought Heron Island was too far offshore to be affected, but according to a friend who's just moved back from nearby Tannum Sands to Cairns, and who's been to Heron many times, the reef there is showing signs of damage.
Four Corners tomorrow night (Monday) will probably shed some more light.

Pat thanks for the direction to Four Corners program last night. I hope there's a similar outcry about this dredging as there was over the live cattle export program.
For those who didn't watch it, here are some of the distressing details (and there's a petition on GetUp to send to the pollies if anyone is interested):
"In the past 6 months (the first stage of dredging) there has been a steep increase in deaths of endangered marine wildlife - 6 dolphins, 10 dugongs and 231 turtles have washed up dead near Gladstone on the Great Barrier Reef.
Fishermen and their families have been getting sick and have noticed that many of the fish have washed up with a strange flesh disease.
The Australian government failed to inform UNESCO of the approval of the gas facilities in the Great Barrier Reef WHA."
