Alberta ATM(ABM)
I had planned to use my BofA ATM card for cash,withdrawing $500 each time, for my late September trip to the rockies. Scandia Banks apparently don't charge 5% for use of BofA cards in their ABM machines.
No problem,Right? Wrong!
I checked the Scandia Branch & ABM Locator and found that the only Scandia ABM in the parks is in Canmore.
There are none in Banff,Jasper or Field where I plan to stay.
As I will be paying for lodging in cash,(private accommodations),I will need several thousand for the trip.
So it's either withdraw cash from ABM's owned by others, or obtain Canadian funds from my BofA in San Diego before I depart. In either case it will be 5%.

Are you sure you meant "Scandia" bank? I've never heard of them and don't believe we have them in Alberta, but could be wrong. Maybe you were referring to a partner bank of Scandia? If so, do you recall what the partner name is?

You are correct.
I gotta start wearing glasses.
I think I've solved my problem.
I went to B of A and had them raise the one-time withdrawal limit from $500 to $2,000 for the day I arrive at Calgary. Now I just have to find the Scotia Bank enroute from the airport to Banff.

I recall that there is a Scotia Bank in a shopping center on right hand side of Country Hills Blvd as you go west. When you leave airport, go left on Barlow Tr, then left on Country Hills. After leaving bank, continue west on Country Hills to Stoney Tr, then left on Stoney Trace to Highway 1. This route also avoids a lot of traffic--see Yahoo maps.

Thanks for responding.
I brought up Scotiabank on the internet and the only branches that they show for Calgary are at;
* 1204 Kensington Road N.W.
* 734-7th Ave. S.W.
* 805 5th Ave. S.W.
I assume these are all downtown.
They only show a few ABM's

Don, I'm looking at the current Calgary phone directory.
There are 34 branches of Scotiabank in Calgary. The ones that are located in the northwest quadrant are:
* 8120 Beddington Blvd NW
* 4110 Brentwood Road NW
* 4805 Centre Street NW
* 5149 Country Hills Blvd NW
* 1204 Kensington Road NW
* 1303 Centre Street NW
* 1941 Uxbridge Dr NW
* 1829 Ranchlands Blvd NW
* 11300 Tuscany Blvd NW
I imagine you're interested in the one on Country Hills Blvd NW. That branch's phone number is (403) 299-6221.
Scotiabank also has an ATM (but not a branch) at 230 Lynx Street in Banff townsite.
You've already discovered that the bank has an ATM in Canmore (at 1160 Railway Avenue).
Scotiabank also has an ATM (but not a branch) in Golden, British Columbia, which is about 20 miles west of Field. The ATM in Golden is located at the intersection of the TransCanada Highway (Hwy #1) and 14th Street North.
Hope that helps.

On the way out of Calgary (on 16th Street): there is a ScotiaBank ATM in the Shell station in the shopping area across the street from the Foothills Medical Center. I think I also saw a sign for a ScotiaBank branch there, but we did not investigate once we found the ATM in the Shell station.
In Banff: the ScotiaBank ATM Judy mentions is located inside the Shell station.
We also bank with Bank of America and were not charged a use fee for our withdrawals from these two ATMs.

The Calgary location that eenusa mentioned, the one just off 16th Avenue North (which is what the TransCanada Highway is called when it passes through Calgary), must be the 1941 Uxbridge Dr NW location, as that is across 16th Avenue from Foothills Medical Centre.
Both the locations that craig91355 and eenusa have mentioned, not surprisingly, are on routes that you can use to get from Calgary Airport to the mountains.
To get directions from the airport to these places, I suggest that you use Google Maps ( http://maps.google.ca ).
For your starting address, use:
100 Airport Road NE, Calgary, AB
For your ending address, use:
5149 Country Hills Blvd NW, Calgary, AB
or
1941 Uxbridge Dr NW, Calgary, AB
Then, to get directions from the bank location in Calgary to Banff, type the bank's address as your starting address and type Banff, AB as your destination address.

Thanks all.
I will stop at the Country Hills ABM on the way from the airport.It is reassuring to know there are so many available, especially, that there is an ABM in Banff.
I have mapped the route from the airport to Banff,per Judy's suggestion, which by passes the downtown area.
Thanks again
