Hopewell Rocks or Cape Breton?

As you know from my earlier post, I'm travelling to Halifax with my husband and 11 month old daughter during May 3rd to May 6th. Saturday. Other days I will cover Halifax, Peggy's cove, Mahone bay Lunnenburg etc.I have a full free day on May 5th .
What do you think I should use it for Hopewell rocks or Cape Breton ? And what is the QUICKEST route to get there, do a wonderful hike, trek and get back to Halifax the same day?
I'd prefer Hopewell rocks but the low tide is in the morning around 8.30am or night around the same time.
Advice please!

Hi, I really don't think you have time for the Cabot Trail - it takes a good day to drive it and another day to get there and back (say approx. 4 hours from Halifax).

I'm sorry about the tides not working out but really think it'd be a lot colder there than you might imagine in eary May anyway, especially for a baby.

There is more to Hfx. than you might think: the Art Gallery, Maritime Museum, Citadel Hill and Pier 21 to mention a few.

I know this isn't replying to what you asked but Cape Breton, a hike and back to Hfx. all in one day is impossible.

Maybe I should cancel both of these and just explore Halifax in detail. I checked the weather and its going to rain all weekend there during that time What luck!
Please suggest things to do when it rains in Halifax! Also, will it be worth going to Peggy's cove, Lunenburg as well in rains?

Hi Preeya, regarding weather, Spring can be fairly wet but they have an old Maritime saying - "If you don't like the weather just wait an hour" - it can be very changeable. But do bring an umbrella! In my earlier post the suggestions are all indoor venues.

I'd still go to the south shore even in the rain - the fog is more of a problem, hard to enjoy the scenic vistas if you can't see them.

Hfx. is a fun, warm and friendly small city - I'm sure you'll find plenty to do and enjoy there.

Lunenburg is very much worth it even on a gray day. Also, I find Peggy's Cove most atmospheric when it is NOT bright and sunny...go anyway. And grab a bite to eat at Large Marge's or The Knot Pub in Lunenburg.
