Labor Day weekend in Cape Breton?
My husband and I are considering flying to Halifax from NYC and then spending 4 nights in Cape Breton. My questions are 1) how long will it take to drive to Cape Breton from Halifax? 2)where should we stay while there (looking for upscale, not tons of kids - we're late twenties w/ no kids, considering Keltic, Normaway, Castle) and 3) is this too much to do in a long weekend? should we just stay in Halifax? Should we consider PEI instead?
Thank you!
Thank you!

Hi, Jacobsa! I just posted similar reply to Julie...why not fly into Sydney (connecting flight to Sydney in Halifax from NYC) and rent a car if your main interest is the Cabot Trail? Hfx to Keltic is approx 5 hrs driving time (but I have not done that drive in a very long time so I stand to be corrected...anybody else??) Sydney Airport to Keltic Lodge is about 1.5 hours.
Labor Day weekend @ Keltic is heaven!!! I have done it many times over the years!

Dear Jacobsa, The other poster is correct driving time fromHalifax to the keltic would be approx 5 hrs. But I am sorry to say he's wrong about the time from Sydney Airport to the keltic it would be approx 2 1/2 hrs since its 2 hour ride from sydney alone. The keltic lodge wouldbe a good choice not a lot of kids around that area ( maybe on the beach but not at the resort). suggestions for staying in baddeck would be the inverary inn which has some lovely grounds & on the quiet side. Normaway Inn is also a good choice its very rustic & charming with great service. hope this helps & have fun

Dear Wow, Its seems we have come to a head with travel times. The site that you suggested may say that the travel time fromthe Airport to Ingonish is 1 hr & 45min, But they have to take in to consideration that there is a 20 to 30 min wait time to cross the SEAL ISLAND BRIDGE which is under contruction for repairs. I hope this clears everything up between us

Well, thank you, CB01. I did not know that the SIB was under construction.
I saw from another post that you are going around The Trail today. Lucky you! Have a great time & say "Hi" to Ingonish Beach for me!
