I tried Allen's. It reminded me of a a restaurant I dined at once near Times Square in Manhatten - over priced and not very good.

There is a large selection of beer which is great. The steak was OK. The frites had a greasy taste. I was served by one person and then another. The bill was just over $30.00.

I use Alice Fazooli's in Richmond Hill as a benchmark for restaurants with meals costing $25-$40. I work in Markham so the trip to this location is not an issue.

I could have had the same meal at Alice Fazooli's for the same money with a nicer place and better service.

Alas, Allen's did not live up to my expectations.

Second vote for the Rebel House on Yonge Street in Rosedale. Great pub food.

Yes, the Rebel House is good.

By the way, Hogtown, the food served at Dora Keogh's is from Allen's.
