Hi,

I am in hurry to check and buy tickets for a trip to and fro from Toronto to Singapore.

My travel agent has given me an option in which I have to travel back to Toronto from Singapore via Narita International Airport in Japan.

My main concern is the time available for transit. It is only 40 minutes and I am not sure whether that would be sufficient to transit without any hassle. I dont know whether the time is just right whether its too short for transit and am also concerned about the whether the luggage would be transferred safely within that time.

Any delay in the flight from Singapore to Narita, Japan will also be troublesome.

Anyone who knows about the minimum time needed for transit..please advise me whether 40 minutes would be sufficient.

I transited at Narita last year...as with all things Japanese transportation-wise it was efficient and easy.

I thought the min. required time for baggage transfer on airlines was 45 min. You are right on the border, but I agree with the other poster that if anybody can do it, it will be done in Singapore or Japan. If your flight is on time, that should be just enough time. I found some delays at security - but I think you may be able to grab one of the line attendants and say you have only minutes and they will move you ahead.

p.s. your ace in the hole is that if your luggage makes it on time into the outbound Narita aircraft, and you are delayed in the terminal they can only 1. wait for you, or 2. start digging through the luggage loaded on the aircraft to remove it (time consuming). I believe I have done that routine and it all went just fine.

If travel agent's computer gave the option of travelling via Narita with a connection of 40 minutes than it must be legal connection or computer would not offer it.
