8 hours in Puerto Rico???

On our way back from Aruba, we'll have an 8-hour layover in Puerto Rico? What can we do in Puerto Rico that's fun and relaxing without missing our flight home?

Ols San Juan is right outside the airport. It would cost you about $10.00 to take a cab there. El Morro caste is there as well a true Hard Rock Cafe. Strolling around Old San Juan is about all you'll have time for. The Bacardi Rum Factory is right out there too so that should keep you busy till your flight leaves

Thanks for the info! If we want to skip San Juan and go for a more laid-back, beach day, do you think we have enough time (and is it worth the effort) to rent a car and visit El Conquistador Resort in Fajardo? Fajardo is about 31 miles from San Juan (45 minute ride, so the hotel says). We'll arrive in San Juan about 9 am and our flight out leaves at 6:30 pm the same day. Please let me know your thoughts.

Venessa: We have been in a similar situation in Puerto Rico. There is a nice Holiday Inn near the airport that rents day rooms.
You have the use of their facilities and they are on the beach (not a beautiful beach). The pool is very nice. There is good food available.
What will you be doing in Aruba? We stopped there for a day during a cruise a few years but the time was so short that we didn't really see much of the island.
Have a good time?

There is also the El San Juan Hotel and Casino and right next door is the Sands. You could eat lunch al fresco on the El San Juan's outdoor patio, gamble in either Hotel, ESJ or Sands, or if they would allow you, both have a beautiful pool and grounds and private beaches. I believe both of these hotels are only 15-20 minutes from the airport.

Vanessa forget about going to a casino to gamble, you're in Puerto Rico, see the sights!!! First, take a cab to old San Juan, don't bother to rent a car because you only have about six hours to explore, and parking can be a nightmare. Visit El Morro, La Fortaleza which is the oldest governor's mansion still in use in the hemisphere. Many small and unique shops line the streets of Old San Juan. For a great lunch, take a cab ride to Dorado's, eat on the balcony as it overlooks the ocean and surfers. Have the Paella, its incredible! Dorado's is located five minutes away, near the Radisson Normandy hotel. After lunch take the ferry to the Barcardi Rum Factory. Have a great vacation. We spent our vacation in Puerto Rico last year and loved it so much, we stopped there for a couple of days this year on our way to Aruba. Enjoy Your vacation. Bienvenidos
