Affordable nice Barbados accomodation for two teens and two parents

We have put four tickets on hold for Barbados March '08 but are now concerned--trying to find beachfont accomodations. Coral Reef Club looks perfect--but too pricey. We all enjoy diving, snorkeling, hiking, kayaking, swimming, good food, a little night life. Also water temps in march for diving/swimming? Thanks for all of the help!!

ttt means to the top--it takes it to the top of the threads so that it doesn't get quickly buried!

It looks like you are planning to go during spring break in the States. That is still peak pricing time in Barbados. Their hotel prices drop a lot after April 15.

Have you check on the Hilton, or possibly Accra Beach Hotel on the south coast?

More of the moderately priced hotels/resorts are on the south coast. We've stayed at Coral Sands, Bougainvillea, and Southern Palms and enjoyed all.

Peace

I took our 4 kids some years back to the Almond Beach Club. We did the all-inclusive and they had a great time.

What about Butterfly Beach Hotel, Barbados Beach Club (all inclusive), Dover Beach Hotel (just renovated), Southern Palms? All on the south coast so more moderately priced than west coast hotels such as Coral Reef. To us living here, the water is cold in March, but for you coming from outside of the region, it's not too bad.

Thank you so much for all of the ideas! I am checking them all out now. How cold would you guess the water temps/air temps are mid March? Our kids will be diving for their first time. They will be doing their pool and course work here(PA)--with the certification dives there. Concerned about water--just got back from Belize--too churned up to snorkel or dive many sites. Thanks again.

I recommend the Hilton Barbados. I stayed there last May.

Suggest you stay on the west coast north of Bridgetown for calm snorkeling/swimming water. Also west coast is prettiest area, less-congested, still easy to get around. Water temps. never go below 80 degrees there. Coral Reef is the class act, but if too pricey, take a look at Settler's Beach. It is an apartment-style hotel, and you might be able to do a 2 bedroom unit.
Also check out www.barbados.org
Assuming you've never been to Barbados, you are in for a treat

I loved the amenities at Bouganviella. Great kitchen, seperate living area and breakfast was included with our package. It was close to the Gap and not far from local buses. Had a great view of the water on a nice, quiet beach.
