Almond Beach Village???( Barbados)
Looking for AI for my sister's family (2 teens 15 & 16)for New Years Week/04. Wld. Almond Beach Village be a good place? Have heard mixed reviews on this property. Wondering if any of you have stayed there recently? What do you think? Suggestions? Looking for great beach for walking/swimming, beautiful pool area, nicely appointed rooms, great food, basketball court, pool tables, volleyball....basically a 'stay-at-the-resort' kind of place. Ideas???
Thanks,
Turtle

Have never been there but considered going at one time - I decided against it because I read some pretty negative things about it on the Internet. It seems to be a typical 'family place' though, but rather run-down and with indifferent service. But someone who has actually been there recently will no doubt be able to give you better information.

was there 2 years ago at the club and travel there for a day trip ,it was a good property, keep in mind that things are very expensive in barbados and the 4 stars is more like 3 stars in other country.
you want to stay at the west side ,where the beaches were the best and you are free and safe to walk along,
1 day we walked for 4 hours -from the club to the village, the most beatuiful beach i have even seen.
you have to go all inclusive, because the price of food and dining will shock you system for years and years.
i was in barbados twice , rented a car for 3 days each time , right hand drive
small roads , no line on the road , no map to buy , no road signs, kind of hard to do, you can hire a taxi for a day to go the the east coast and south coast , they know the way and save a lot of lost time. shouldnt take more than 2 days to see the whole island
very british . have fun,
the most beatiful place i have ever been

Hi Turtle1,
Almond beach resort is a very nice hotel, physical structure is good, service is good, atmosphere is nice, beaches are very nice and tranquil.
The also have good entertainment laid down for you, with the Almond Beach band, and a number of other acts.

Staying at Almond would be a good choice, it's in the heart of Speightstown, only thing to get to Bridgetown you need to travel about 25-45 minutes depending on traffic.

If you or anyone has any questions about Barbados, feel free to email me at [email protected] and I will give you the answer, I live in Barbados, so it is easy for me to get answers.

I also suggest you subscribe to the newsletter "Discover Barbados" it is compiled with people like you in mind, that needs current and up to date information. It's free.
Just copy and paste the addess below into your browser's address box.
http://www.bajanshowcase.com/newsletter.html

Hope I have helped.
Kelvin/Clifton
