I have stayed there and enjoyed it very much, but one should know there are about a zillion steps down to the beach and back up to the room. (Forgetting something in the room is a disaster.)

The food was very good, the views were stunning and the snorkeling/diving off the beach were good.

Look at Ladera also - very romantic.

You do need to know that Oct. 9 is still very much during hurricane season.

One year over Labor Day, we were at AC and three named storms came through - not fun.

Congrats!

Have stayed there twice (both times in February), and it was very nice. We had the premier location on the property, too. Nevertheless, given its prices and your timing, how about considering French Polynesia? IMO, there's no comparison.

thanks for the tips! i am still looking at various places and driving myself crazy with where to go since it will be during hurricane season. i would love to go to one of the french polynesian islands but the trip there is so long--i didn't want to take up extra time with travelling. i may have to though to avoid the threat of bad weather! thanks again

franniebug, don't know where you would be traveling from but Air Tahiti Nui begins nonstop flights from New York (JFK) in July, and they are running specials, including hotels, because of the new service. (They already fly nonstop from LAX.) Of course, I think nothing can beat a week (or more) on Radisson's Paul Gauguin.
