Best Snorkeling in St. Thomas and St. John?
Hi there!
My husband and I and another couple are currently on St. Thomas. I figured while checking e-mail, I would post a question too.
We are huge snorkelers, but so far have not found great snorkeling. We did some decent snorkeling on a day trip to the BVI's w/ New Horizons Charters, but are heading to St. John tomorrow, and plan on making Friday our big STT snorkel day.
We have found that the guidebooks have been somewhat off with concern to the best snorkeling spots.
Would you St. Thomas and St. John experts please advise us which snorkeling spots we should head to - we really don't want to miss out!!
Thanks so much!!

Since you only have a day trip to St. John I would say go to Hawksnest(great elkhorn coral forrest)and believe it not Caneel Bay where you can go to Soloman & Honeymoon beaches. All our a short trip from the ferry dock and will give you what you want. There are sites just as good but do not want you to spend so much time driving around. Oh my gosh I forgot Trunk Bay definetly worth it.

I agree with the above suggestions for St. John.
We stayed on St. Thomas and snorkeled at three locations there. The best was Coki Beach VERY EARLY in the morning before the cruise ship hordes arrive. We got there about 7:30 and it was great. You can snorkel right up to the Coral World ropes on the E side of the beach, and there's also some stuff on the W end of the beach.
Second best was Sapphire Beach (where we stayed) - snorkel to the right of the beach as you face St. John.
Also had some OK snorkeling at Secret Harbour - a nice place to escape the crowds.
