Comfort Suites Paradise Island and the Atlantis Resort

Help from someone please who is familiar with the comfort suites resort next to Atlantis. I am thinking of booking a stay here since taking 2 rooms at Atlantis for my family of 5 is out of my budget. How convenient is it to stay at comfort and walk next door to Atlantis to use their facilities? I really want to experience Atlantis, but don't want to pay for it. Please let me know anyone who has done this before. Thank you.

Kathy,
If you take the time to do a search, you will find many posts to read about your question.
I recently called a travel agent that I know (takes care of stuff here at work), she was unaware of the Comfort Suites guests priveleges @Atlantis. (??)
Anyway, people @this forum say it's a good deal for the $. I'm going next Spring, staying at Comfort Suites & checkin' out the Atlantis. I was hoping to keep it a secret!
Go for it. It's a nice alternative. The rooms are a good size and there's a pool. Atlantis is no more than a 3 minute walk and since you definitely, 100%, get to use their stuff it's a perfect situation.

Have fun.

Go for it! Have read on this site a few times how people have done that but with this site being so busy, you have to spend and hour looking for a thread 2 days old! I believe they also offer a continental breakfast too and their pool is smaller but much less crowded. If I were looking to go to NAS I too would want to experience Atlantis but would never pay to stay there. Like you, I would stay at Comfort Suites where the rooms are bigger and more affordable. I have many friends who have stayed at the Atlantis. It was by far the most expensive yet WORST vacation they ever had.

We stayed at the Comfort Suites last year with two families. Had run of the Atlantis for much less cost. The time it takes to walk to the Atlantis isn't much longer than being there. The hotel is not as nice nor is it as crowded. Try to get a room in the newer section. If you like jet skis, bargain the price down or move down the beach and rent one away from the Atlantis. We had a great time, won money in the casino and spent it all on food.

I have seen so many differing views on the Comfort Suites in Paradise Island. We are staying there this summer and want to know THE REAL SCOOP!

There is a lot written about Comfort Suites on www.bahamamon.com
We just got back from staying in one room at the Royal Towers, but had oringinally booked two at Comfort Suites (four people). Comfort Suites did not look significantly further away than staying at the far end of the Beach Tower, or the Harborside Villas. I do think being in the Royal Towers was very convenient, and gave us the easiest access to the Mayan Temple water areas and The Dig. But one room here costs the same as two rooms at the Comfort Suites, and did not include the continental breakfast ($8 each at Atlantis). Tips I've gathered from the web: make sure you book a non-smoking room and ask for the newly renovated section. CS staff suggested I fax them a copy of these requests directly to the Paradise Island property after I made the reservation. Good luck! It is definitely worth the walk over; just pack a bag of extra swimsuits, t-shirts, sunblock - everything you might need for the day, so you don't have to go back and forth.

Thanks for your response, Beth! What made you switch from Comfort Suites to the Royal Towers? the distance? We booked Comfort Suites because the rate was more reasonable and the continental breakfast was included. It was also a big plus that we will have full access to Atlantis. I will definitely fax a copy of any requests directly to the property. I would appreciate comments from anyone who has actually stayed there. Please reduce my anxiety concerning the comments I have read about the uncleanliness of the rooms and property and the unfriendliness of the staff.

Thanks, Al! Have you stayed there? On another site I read that there are roaches in every room......what's that about? And then other people rave about it being the best deal on the island.

We stayed at the Harborside in the larger one-bedroom. Not much of a view (those are mostly taken by the timeshares) but very large and extremely comfortable. We had W/D, full kitchen and use of the Harborside pool late at night. Can also check out towels there where they're not so concerned about turning them in by 5 pm. Packed a suitcase full of food & had no trouble bringing it into Bahamas, then had a suitcase for souvenirs on return. Since we had W/D, could pack very lightly, too. It was much cheaper than 2 rooms @ Atlantis hotel.

Confused, I stayed there awhile back, 4 years ago, and a perfectly acceptable, roach-free week. Took a stroll over there last year when I was at Atlantis and it still looked fine.

Don't give alot of credence to the roach horror stories. It's usually someone with an axe to grind about something else that didn't go their way.
Many more people seem to have actually stayed at Comfort Suites over here:
www.bahamas-mon.com/bahamaforum/nassau/8317.

My family of 4 just stayed at the Comfort Suites over spring break. We are still congratulating ourselves on the money we saved over staying at Atlantis. The rooms at CS are just fine. Clean, NO ROACHES, and basic. Apparently no different than Atlantis rooms in Coral or Beach towers. Even Royal towers has ordinary hotel rooms. Believe me you will want to escape the hustle and bustle of Atlantis. The first two days visiting Atlantis I felt like I was vacationing in an airport terminal. Lounge chairs right on top of each other and hundreds of people walking in every direction.. After a few days, you learn where to sit with a more tranquil view.
I beg to differ with regards to the new versus old wing of Comfort Suites. The new wing is a longer walk to Atlantis and overlooks a parking lot and construction site. We declined the 1st room they showed us there and took a room in the old wing #210. It was a short walk to Atlantis entry, overlooked the pool, especially helpful when a child was sick and wanted to stay in the room.
I would not hesitate to stay at comfort suites, saving the $$$ for the mediocre and very expensive food at Atlantis. Treat yourselves to a dinner at Dune and pretend for a little while that you are staying at the OC.
Holly

Excellent choice. The swim up bar at the Comfort Suite's pool is great, and the bartenders are so friendly. You can enjoy Atlantis for a while, then escape the elbow-to-elbow crowd and hype and retreat to the CS. There is so much to see in New Providence, being locked in to the Atlantis on a mealplan, etc., is definately not my cup of tea. You can literally have your cake and eat it to. The Atlantis is a great place to visit, but I wouldn't stay on the grounds for too long a stay without experiencing the rest of the Bahamas. Robert

We have reservations for comfort suites in July and I am seriously considering changing to the Atlantis. After reading some comments on bahamas-mon.com, I am seriously concerned about not being able to stay in the newer section. The old section sounds like absolute garbage! Is this a nightmare waiting to happen?

Are the fridges in the comfort suites really refridgerators or are they the mini-bars that you have to partially empty to put your food/beverages in? Can anyone comment on the distance to Atlantis from comfort suites versus the distance between Harborside Villas and Atlantis?

The Comfort Suites are about 3 minute walk to Atlantis. Harbourside is a bit further, but they have a shuttle bus between the two properties. Either way, your major walking isn't TO the Atlantis, it's on the Atlantis grounds.
I have a house in Nassau that I share with my boyfriend, and rarely stay in a hotel. When I do, it's usually the New British Colonial. I have visited friends and/or family at both properties.
