We are going to St. Thomas in May and have Coral World on our agenda. We don't have kids, but we are kids at heart and love aquariums. We have pre-booked the Sea Trek and are looking forward to it. We will also go to Coki beach for some snorkling. Can let you know more when we return.

My wife and I recently returned from a week in St. Thomas and stayed near Coki Beach which is adjacent to Coral World. By the way, we did the opposite as you; we stayed in St. Thomas and took the ferry to St. John for the day.
As for Coral World, it's probably worth it if you have a family with kids. The underwater observatory where you can view fish and coral is quite spectacular on a sunny day. The tropical and marine gardens are okay. Best to go during feeding times as you'll get to see more creatures in the pools. Be sure to pick up any island guide or map as they all have coupons for, I believe, $3.00 US off of Coral World admission.
By the way, rent a car in St. John (we took ours over on the ferry from St. Thomas), it's really the only way to explore all of the beautiful bays and beaches in St. John. If you haven't booked your trip yet, we found some good info and a great package deal on tripsavercaribbean.com.
Hope this helps.

Coral World is nice, but i would avoid it unless you love fish and underwater stuff. When we head to St. Thomas...well, we usually stay in St. John. I am not a huge fan of commercialism whilst on holiday. I don't want crowds and screaming kids. I would forgo St Thomas, have a blast on St John at Skinny Legs, Donkey Diner, honeymoon beach. Take advantage of heading to Jost van Dyke, BVI or anywhere in the BVI. If you must head to st thomas, red hook is cool or take the seaplane over to St. croix for a day trip.
Good luck!
