Thanks for the information. Yes, I would love to be kept informed about the Marriott's progress by those who will be going to St. Kitts......

While I loved St. Kitts, I would be very concerned about the rough surf on the side where the Marriott is (especially with kids). I was there in February and the beach was deserted because it was so windy and rough. Even with the man-made reef, it will still be iffy some days. I guess that's why they will shuttle guests to Frigate Bay Beach. Most of the nice beaches are on the southern peninsula and you would need transportation to get there no matter where you stayed.

We just got back from St Kitts and the Marriot looks like it will be a beautuful resort when finished. Although the Atlantic side was a bit rougher the man made reefs did make the Marriots beach calm. For the caribbean side you would have to
drive to Friars beach as Frigate bay is still in bad shape. When I was there the rumor was the Marriot would
repair the damage on Frigate. You should investigate this rumor.

The beach was damaged by the hurricanes of 3 years ago. Lenny and Georges were the worst and mother nature started to repair it but the 1 that went to the south and the 1 to the north produced heavy swells on the beach last year that didn't help. I can tell you that the matter is being discussed at the govn't level at this time and news will come out soon about repairing Timothy Beach in Frigate Bay.

We have only been to Curacao, but it is our favorite island. There is opportunity for all of your kids to see and do things they would like. This place has lots of sightseeing and shopping. The seaquarium was fun. Also, it's very safe and I would have no hesitation in walking at night.

Trish: Cauracao is the only island you've been to? I just saw you had posted an answer to someone's question about Antigua.

to ML
What do you mean exactly that it was horrible? Is the beach torn up or debris everywhere? I can't really picture what you mean? I have never seen hurricane damage here in the midwest!!:]

A lot of rocks, hard to enter. Although the beach is long te beach area has been shortened, the sand at the Jersey shore is nicer!! Check out the Westin in St John, they have a great pool, abeautil Island with alot of beautiful beaches, good restaurants in close by Cruz Bay, and there always seems to be kids there. Also they have alot of water toys at the hotel
for a resonable price.

On the subject of St. Kitts and all you knowledgeable people out there, how far of a ferry ride is it to Nevis and how much generally is the fare?
Would this be a day trip?
I think the fare was about US$8, and took about an hour. It was a really nice ride, you can sit inside or upstairs on the deck to enjoy to scenery.

If you are holidaying in either St. Kitts or Nevis, it is definetly worth it to take a day trip to the other island.
