Do people in the Caribbean wear white all year?

Though it does seem like a silly question all around, as someone who is moving to the Carib in a few weeks, it is something that is really on my mind (only 13 days to go!).
I notice, in pics of my friends that are already in the Caymans, that when they go out in the evenings they definitely aren't doing the Vancouver "casual", i.e., jeans and a t-shirt and sandals, but more slacks and a nice top. Always dressed up nice.
I know that Cayman is a conversative Island....now I am rummaging through my wardrobe wondeirng if I have appropriate wear!
