Driving in St Maarten
We are going to be staying on the French side of the island and we are also renting a car. How long does it take to drive from one side to the other. We are planning a pub crawl that boards at 630 and it is close to the airport. I was wondering if there was a lot of traffic and if driving from one side to the other takes a long time.

The traffic can be pretty bad at times and move at a snails pace. The peak traffic times are similar to those in the US.
I'm not sure where on the French side you are staying and if your pub crawl will commence on a weekday or weekend, but I personally would give myself at least a half hour to get from Marigot to a destination near the airport. Better safe than sorry and if you arrive early, you can always just relax and have a pre-pub crawl cocktail.

They have to drive to the dock where the boat boards for the pub crawl. It's a boat that goes pub to pub.
BTW, primobacio, if you happen to go to Lal's Indian restaurant on the pub crawl (it usually stops there), tell him his friends from Statia say hello. (he's always the only one behind the bar) And, if you're hungry, he has the best Indian food on the island, IMHO.
Enjoy!

Try to find a schedule of the Bridge openings (they happen several times) throughout the day there is one bridge close to the airport on the Dutch side and another on the French side. The Dutch bridge has many openings to allow all the ships through the bridges can be open for up to 30 minutes throughout the day which will cause traffic problems try to avoid these times.
