This is the third aruba question in a row that sounds the same. You are all looking for similar info. Go to
aruba-bb.com It is a website that offers a wealth of info on Aruba. You will find many who stay at La cabana and own their too. We stayed at the Marriott last year and I found so much info on this website. The people are very nice!

We stayed at LaCabana a few years ago and really loved it. We really liked that our room was in the front building. We would definitely recommend renting a car. Besides seeing the different parts of the island, it was very convenient for going to restaurants. The food and drink prices were comparable to other resort locations. We had a refrigerator in our room so we bought some beer and took a cooler to the beach with us. Aruba is one of our favorite destinations - we hope you have a great time.

Haven't stayed at LaCabana, we stayed at the Wyndham.
Tropic Car rental was very good. Hans Dhooge met us at the airport and had a clean Toyota Yaris (similar to tercel)for a great price--$160 for the week.
Food is expensive all over the Caribbean. We spent an average of $100 per day on food and drinks. Some days less, some days more depending on the restaurants.
We loved Aruba; will definitely be back.
Peace, Greenie

I've stayed at La Cabana twice and loved it. The two-room suites are spacious as compared to the highrise hotels. Lots of kids running around so bewarned. I happen to prefer staying at the Radisson or Hyatt as the resorts are more lavish and I spend more time in the highrise area. But when the deal is good, I will stay at La Cabana.
Food and drinks are fairly pricey but not too bad. A lot of tours include a meal or snack so eating lunch was usually not that bad. Dinner can get expensive but honestly, not anything more than I am used to paying in Washington, DC where I live.

We stayed in Aruba last June and never hired a car - the buses are wonderful and regular at $2 return are an absolute bargain.
Try a couple of tours - you'll have fun and meet other vacationers also you'll be supporting the local economy. It's also worth bearing in mind that taxi's aren't that expensive. Have fun!
