Flying from NY to Antigua
I've been researching flights for days and am totally confused, so hope some of you experts can help me out! I am thinking of going to Siboney, in Antigua, from 4/18 through 4/21 (three nights). Flying right into Antigua seems to limit the flight options significantly; is it better (easier) to fly into St. Martin? Is the ferry the best way to Antigua from St. Martin? Since it's a short stay, I don't want to spend two whole days getting there & back; I realize that it's not as easy as NY to Miami but am hoping you can provide some tips. Thanks for the help!

I'm not an expert on travel via NYC area, but I am one of the resident Antigua fans here. All I can tell you is that there is no ferry service between St. Martin/Maarten and Antigua, although there should be ample connections by air.
It's a long way to go for just 3 nights. I know this, because I've done it. I just figured that 3 nights was better than not going at all, but at the end I kicked myself for not squeezing one more night out of it. Now I won't travel to the Caribbean unless I can have 4 nights down there.
I fly from Hartford, CT, and always connect via San Juan for a flight into Antigua on American Airlines. Fortunately for me, AA has always been on time for these flights and I've ended up on island as early as 1:00 pm local time and on the beach at my hotel by 2:00. You might be able to get a better connection flying NYC to SXM and then puddle jumping over, but you're relying on the smaller, local airlines whose schedules are not as reliable as AA's, in my own experience.

Are you confusing Antigua with Anguilla?
Caribbean Star and Liat Airlines flies between St. Maarten and Antigua, it is approx 50 minutes flight with a stop somewhere, (Nevis or St. Kitts).
Continental flies directly from New York to Antigua, as far as I know.

Siboney is in Antigua. Continential has a non stop flight out of Newark, it only flys a few days a week during high season, then on Saturdays. The flight number is 848/849.
The other choice is AA through San Juan. Not sure if BWI is flying out of jfk.
No ferry from St. Martin. I know many
get Anguilla and Antigua mixed up. Yes,
they are both British.

Thanks all! You're right, I was confusing Antigua and Anguilla (I knew one of them was a water ride away!) Sounds like connecting via San Juan is the best bet...and I'll try to change my plans for at least 4 nights.

Not un-common to confuse the two islands. For many years friends and colleagues thought I was going to Antigua, and we just kept Anguilla "our little secret". Now "everyone" seem to know about Anguilla.
