I live in Bermuda but I'm afraid I've never stayed at either - Grape Bay has its own beach and is probably 30+ mins walk from the centre of Hamilton (definitely not 1 mile as I saw on some websites), the Rosedon is 5 mins walk from Hamilton centre and probably 3+ miles from any beach. Grape Bay has a good restaurant (Sapori), the Rosedon is well thought of but mostly it depends how far you want to be from the beach.

I too would be interested in the impressions of anyone who has stayed at or visited Grape Bay Beach Hotel in Bermuda. My family is staying there in July because of its reasonable price (for Bermuda), access to private beach, and central location -- apparently convenient to South Shore beaches as well as Hamilton. But I would like to hear from someone who has first-hand knowledge.

We stayed there in May; It is NOT walking distance from Hamilton but a short cab ride. We were able to walk to the grocery from there, though...
My impressions in brief: the beach was virtually EMPTY and quite lovely (though it was a bit early in the season). It is at the end of a short path by the hotel. This was the best part by far: it is rather unusual to be so close to the beach in Bermuda. I liked staying in Paget because it was not far from anything except St. Georges which I would skip anyway. Also, the daytime clerk was WONDERFUL: very friendly and helpful. She called our cabls, made reservations for dinner, etc. We tipped her the first day we met her. The terrace of the restaurant overlooks the ocean and is just beautiful.
As for the hotel itself: it is fine. Not fancy, but very clean. No vending that I could find, so consider a trip to the grocery for water, soda, etc. The beach chairs are the low to the ground ones that you take from the front desk each time you go...no service on the beach itself. I would describe it as sort of....European. Not our idea of a fancy hotel but perfect if you are looking for a place to sleep, get ready and with awesome beach access. Hope this helps. We LOVED our trip.

Thanks for the info att. How expensive were the cabs to Hamilton? Did you use the bus system at all? If so, was that convenient? I understand that it is a half mile from the hotel to the bus stop (uphill walking back to the hotel) but that there is a shuttle to and from the bus stop. Does the shuttle run frequently (how do you get it at the bus stop going back to the hotel)? Also, did you try the restaurant Sapori at Grape Bay? Any restaurants you would recommend? Many thanks for your help!
