Has anyone stayed at the Tamarijn recently?

I have a room reserved for my honeymoon at the Tamarijn in Aruba. Has anyone stayed there recently? How was it? Was the food any good? Service? Rooms? Activities?

There isn't one soul out there that has stayed at the Tamarijn within the past year?

Perhaps you could try the Aruba Bulletin Board at www.visitaruba.com. Lots of questions and answers about the Tamarijn; you are likely to get a quicker response there. We were at Aruba recently but stayed at Bucuti. We liked the area anyway, like Bucuti the Tamarijn is in the 'lowrise' hotel section of Aruba (which we greatly prefer to the 'highrise' section). Hope this helps.

I stayed at the sister resort to the Tamarijn, the Divi, about a year and a half ago. The Divi had just finished getting remodeled and was a really great resort. We went down to the Tam on several occasions to eat at their Italian restaurant since all of their ammenities where included in the AI Divi package, we found it to be not as nice as the Divi. The beach had more rocks and less sand, the hotel and lobby were alot older, overall the Divi was just better. However, I have heard that the Tam was being remodeled. The food was quite good at the Divi and at the restaurant at the Tam, I'd imagine they have the same buffets as the Divi. There was always something going on at night too, no too quiet or too loud, just right. I wouldn't not recommend the Tam, it is a nice place, but the Divi was just better all-around. Congratlations and have fun!

We were just there in late December and stood at the Allegro on Palm Beach. I have to say how surprised I was about the beach. The water was very cloudy and the first couple of feet into the water were very rocky with a lot of broken coral. We walked the entire lenght and the situation was the same everywhere. Another time a few years back when I went in January, it was even worse. I also have gone there in July and the beach was just perfect. Perhaps things change in the winter.

We just back from our honeymoon at the Tamarijn the first of February. We were not expecting it to be very glamorous compared to the Hyatt and Wyndham on Aruba, but we would not recommend this resort, especially for your honeymoon. We were very disappointed with the food. It was nothing spectacular and they left most of it uncovered on a buffet for an hour or two at each meal and we saw flies swarming around. After a day or two of eating at the resort, we were tired of it and ended up eating out (which is such a waste after paying for the all-inclusive.) The bar was also a disappointment- they only have beer of draft and generic liquor (no premium). The rooms looked like any run-of-the-mill Days Inn, nothing special. There was not much of a beach- too many rocks. There was one small pool. We went down to the Divi a couple of times an it was a lot nicer, it just recently had renovations, but the food & bar are the same there. The good points about the resort was the service, everyone was very friendly and we liked the Italian resturaunt. However, one night we went down to the Hyatt to the casino and really wished we had stayed either there or at the Wyndham. They were both extremely nice compared to our resort with huge landscaped pool areas and very nice bars and resturaunts. You only go on your honeymoon once and you want it to be as nice as possible, and this was not the case at the Tamarijn. Please ask me other questions if you need more info.

I stayed at the Tamarijn last October and stayed for a week. My boyfriend and I loved it. Aruba was the best vacation I ever took. Its very relaxing and I love the fact that you are just a few footsteps from your room to the beach. Lots of iguanas and big ones, but they don't bother you. All-Inclusive is great too. All beer is draft and they always have the special drink of the day. One day we did walk down to the Divi Divi. It is alittle nicer, but not as close to the beach as the Tamarijn. Stay away from the Kool-Aid Koolers -- very potent. The food is good at the Tamarijn, lots of different things to try. Rooms are clean and adequate. Not great, but your not in the room that much anyway. Lots of water sport activities and you are only a few minutes away from town. Go to Carlos and Charlies -- its a fun place. Any more questions -- send me an email at [email protected]

We stayed at the sister resort [the Divi]. We walked over to the Tamarijn. We thought it didn't look as nice as the Divi [the Divi was nice, not great, but nice]. I have a couple of cousins who honeymooned at the Hyatt in Aruba and LOVED it...another possible option for you.

Thanks for all the details.....but I keep getting conflicting info.

Some say the food is good, other say it is horrible.

A lot of people have said the beach is not all that (rocky), others say they loved it.

I am really torn bewtween staying with the Tam or looking somewhere else. I really want my honeymmon to go smoothly and enjoy every minute. I don't want to arrive and find out that our beachfront room looks straight out to a pile of rocks. I don't want to have to wear shoes on the beach or drive/walk to another beach because the Tams' is horrible. I don't want to pay for all-inclusive and find out that the selection and taste truly lack.

My fiancee just wants to take the chance with the Tam. I have a tendency to get in a real blue mood if what I expect and hope for turns to be total opposite.

*Aja, my fiancee or I will probably be in touch. Thanks for the e-mail.

*gabeck, I would like to get a little more from you too. You and Aja had totally different experiences.

Thanks again ! :}

In response to your concerns- the food at the Tam isn't horrible, but if you are going to be there for a week, you will get tired of it and want to go out in town. There are so many great resturuants in Aruba and it is kind of a shame to miss trying them because you feel like you have to eat at the resort all the time since you paid for AI. The food is fine for breakfast and lunch, but for dinner I like something a little bit nicer than the standard buffet. The Tam does have a great Italian resturant, but we only ate there 1 night because we wanted to try some other places.

As far as the beach goes, yes the rooms are right on the beach, but you really can't get in there because there is a rock barrier between the walkway and the actual water. If you were to get in the water, it wouldn't be rocky, but you would have to climb over rocks to get in the water. I hope this makes sense. At Palm Beach (where the high rises are) all the beaches are wide and sandy (no rocks).

Another disappointment I had at the Tam was the rooms. They are very basic and for your honeymoon I would think you would want something a little fancier (I did anyway).
