honeymoon, where in st. lucia?
I'm looking for a great honeymoon spot and am completely undecided due to an information avalanche.
I'm getting married this September and heard good things about St. Lucia. I found decent rates for Jamaica, but heard it's not good b/c of locals being bothersome. Not completely sold on St. Lucia, any ideas would be helpful. I'd like an all-inclusive, but am a little worried they're on the cheesy side? Never been to one and want the honeymoon to be splendid...not too much planning on my part. So far, I have good rates from LeSport and Sandals Halcyon...anyone have anything to say on these?

You don't say why you're not sold on St. Lucia, but I think it's the ideal place for a honeymoon. My boyfriend and I were at the Jalousie Hilton on the south side of the island for ten days in february and it was romantic, peaceful, and pure bliss. That resort does have all-inclusive rates; you won't need to plan much although you can wake up in themorning, basically, and decide that you want to hike through the rainforest to swim in a waterfall, or go sailing, or take a water taxi to Castries and go shopping. For a honeymoon, I'd split the time between Ladera and the Jalousie Hilton; Ladera, situated between the Pitons waaaaaay above the Hilton, is, hands-down, the most beautiful place I have ever seen - but my boyfriend and I agreed that any more than three days there and we'd go stir-crazy.

my friend just got back (yesterday) from St. Lucia. He said they had a wonderful time, they stayed at Sandals Golf & Spa Resort & visit Halcyon (quieter of the two). He said it rained 2 1/2 days (it's the rainy season until November (so keep that in mind). I called him b/c I was undecided where to go on vacation either St. Lucia (Hyatt Regency, which offer a all inclusive plan & they have a swim up lagoon room (check it out on www.expedia.com), it looks simply fantastic). He told me to consider Aruba (out of the hurrican belt and it hardly ever rains). The only problem is the all inclusive in Aruba look cheezy.

Well good luck in choosing & with the wedding!
Brenda--

We just returned from Jalousie Hilton. It was amazing! The location is pure paradise! Right between the Piton mountains. You just can't adequately describe the setting in words. All of the villas are hidden in the hill. You can't even see them from the beach, but when you're on your patio of your villa, you can clearly see the mountains and ocean. We ventured up to the North side, and were not as impressed with the overall scenery and resorts. I did not get a look at LeSport at all however. The Hyatt was the only one I'd consider staying at for a few days. But I highly recommend spending some, if not all of your time, at Jalousie. You can get good rates if you book directly through the hotel. Also, check out www.airtravel.com for many good photos of the resort and room interiors.

Good luck!

I LOVE Jamaica. I cannot state that here enough. Whoever tells you that the locals will bother you must not leave the country very often because I found them no worse then in Paris, Italy and Mexico. I am a person who loves hotel rooms, nice food and fun. I went to Grand Lido San Souci in May for one of those once in a lifetime second honeymoons. I am on my way back to Grand Lido Braco in 2 days. That's how much I loved it. The service was personal and attentive. It could be low key if you wanted it to or if you were seeking some great activities tokeep you busy there were those to. No I didn't get out and do many tours but I didn't really feel the need. I went tobe romantic with my hubby and relax. I have already toured Europe twice so I have an overload of culture. We met many, many people getting married there and on their honeymoons and they LOVED it. All your spa treatments are included as well as a 24 hour rom service.
http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/thegran...isitorshangout
Here is a link to a great club with alot of info and pictures. It includes menus and trip reports. Great luck to you!!
