Info on Green Turtle Cay - Bahamas
We're looking at a vrbo rental on Green Turtle Cay in the Bahamas but I can't find much information about the island. Does anyone here have any information about the island - and the closest airport? Thank you

The closest airport is Treasure Cay ( TCB ). Fly there and take a ferry ( http://abacotoday.com/Information/Ferry.html ) to Green Turtle. There should be tons of information on Goggle plus the the following Abaco specific forums:

Both of the forums were helpful. We booked a trip and leave next week for seven days in a house we booked through VRBO on Green Turtle Cay. Any suggestions for our week would be appreciated.

I have not been to GTC in quite a few years but I know you will have a great time! RobertoB already gave you the best advice but I would add that if you are a diver or snorkeler you might want to look at www.brendal.com and consider a day trip for diving, snorkeling or just island hopping. If you know how to drive a boat be sure to rent one for at least part of your stay- if not, it is fun sightseeing in a golf cart. Depending on where you are staying on the island, you may or may not find one necessary. Have a wonderful trip!

Given your planning time frame, I would search the forums that I recommended for information on GTC. Both are Abaco specific forums.
I've never been to Green Turtle, but have spent two trips on Lubbers Quarters in the Abacos. I have considered Green Turtle for a 'next' trip which is why I knew the logistics of getting there.
Enjoy your trip. My wife and I have fond memories of our Abaco travels.

Another very helpful source I have used over the years in planning Abaco trips is www.abacoindex.com - click on "Green Turtle Cay" on the list on the right side of the page and it will take you to helpful GTC information. There are many, many links on this website so you can spend quite a bit of time navigating it. Since you don't have a lot of time it ought to give you some quick up-to-date pointers since he goes annually and has for some years.

Our week on Green Turtle was great. Small town, small island and deserted beaches. The only negative was the weather - cold! We plan on returning, but would not go again in the winter. Their tourist season is May through July and I see why. Even if the air temp had been warmer the waters were cold. Small home-style restaurants with great food. Each morning the grocery store gets homemade bread. The coconut bread was to die for! The New Year's Day festival - Junkanoo - was a great experience.
