Kristin, <BR>I believe "Irie" is a derivation of the english word "alright". It's just a way of expressing the Jamaican attitude and lifestyle, as in "everything gonna be irie".

Evertin's irie, Mon! I, too, love Jamaica. I've been there 4 times and will be returning. I have many Jamaican friends and find them among the friendliest, happiest people with a gret attitude towards life. I've stayed in Ocho Rios and Port Antonio, which is less touristy and absolutely beautiful! I've gone 3 times with other women, and we've been out at night and never had a problem. Again, I'd never go to Kingston where there is crime and drugs, but, using common sense, it's safe and a beautiful island with beautiful people! The next time, I'd like to try Negril.
