Just back from Radisson Aruba

I was at the Radisson last week. My overall impression was that it was a fair hotel. I stayed at the Hyatt over xmas 2001 so I am comparing it to that. I haven't stayed anywhere else on Aruba.

The grounds of the radisson were nice but they don't compare to the Hyatt so my first impression was a little bit of a let down. The rooms are a definite plus over the Hyatt. I loved having the balcony to sit on. I know the Hyatt has small balconies but you can't sit out there. I did not like the restaurants at the Radisson primarily due to quality and lack of variety. Good thing Aruba has so many other good restaurants. The Radisson was really crowded and there were a lot of children around. I can't really compare it to the Hyatt because I went at two different times of the year. My main complaint with the hotel was the service. It was not bad but they it also wasn't to the level that the Hyatt provided. The main advantage that the Radisson has is it is cheaper. If I was going back to Aruba it is a toss up whether I would stay there or the Hyatt. If I could afford it I would probably go to the Hyatt.

If you have any questions about the hotels or other activities let me know.

I guess this is why there is so much debate about the best place to stay on Aruba!

My family just got back yesterday, stayed at the Hyatt and loved it, after debating between that and the Radisson. We walked down to the Radisson and looked it over and, while very nice, we were glad we were at the Hyatt, the grounds were prettier. I did miss sitting out on the balcony but found I could sit on it and drink coffee in the mornings and that worked out okay. We found the service at the Hyatt to be excellent, staff friendly, food good (although we went out for dinner, loved Madame Janette and El Gaucho, food and atmosphere good but service poor at Papiamento, food really poor at Driftwood). We loved Aruba and want to go back - and it would be to the Hyatt again!

Since the Raddison had a major renovation...it is actually MORE expensive than the Hyatt. So if you were looking for a more affordable accomodation, then believe it or not, it would be the Hyatt!

Both are beautiful resorts though.

Unless prices have changed in the past month the Radisson is cheaper. I was able to get my ocean view room for $100 cheaper a night than what I could get at the Hyatt and the Radisson included breakfast. When I stayed at the Hyatt my deal didn't include breakfast buy it was an option.
