Kids and The Caymans.

We are taking our two children ages 2 and 5 to Grand Cayman next April. Rented a house at Cayman Kai. Any suggestions on places to go, resturants with kids these ages? Are the grocery stores expensive also? I've heard everything is! Thanks for the help!

OOOOH Cayman Kai! It's gorgeous! You might want to shop at Fosters of Kirks in town before you go to the resort. e've taken the kids to Cayman since our 7 year old was 18 months. Now they're 7 & 4 and both snorkle.( You can see fish in 3 feet of water all around the island. Please get them masks that fit BEFORE you go and you'll all have a wonderful time. They especially loved dropping cereal in the water in the morning and being surrounded by
15-20 8" long fish in knee-deep water.
They (the fish) like the raisin bran but spit the raisins out. ring lots of film and a cheapie underwater disposable camera or two and ENJOY!

We enjoyed The Wharf restaurant. It was right on the water and the restaurant feeds fish called tarpons off the dock and the kids can watch. Another one we enjoyed was The Almond Tree, which had parrots. Stingray City was an excursion thing my son loved, but your kids are pretty young. If you think they would like to have stingrays swimming around them, then I would recommend it. The guide can take one out of the water for them to touch. But I guess you gotta know your own kids and determine if this is something they would get a kick out of. We didn't shop in the grocery stores, so I can't help you with that. Grand Cayman is great! Have a great time!

re; stingray city. There's a glass-bottom boat from Rum Point that goes to the Stingray sandbar- 3 feet of water, the kids and you can stay on the fantail of the boaut or get in the water. Then there's s stop in about 8' of water over some coralheads. We highly recommend it. P.S. the bbq chicken sandwich @ Rum Pt. is delicious!

Hello Lesa,
GC is great choice for kids. Cayman Kai, love it! Personal preference for Hurleys Grocery between airport & Boddentown on the way to Cayman Kai. Buy a styrofoam cooler for milk, etc, drive can get slow at peak periods.

Disagree about feeding fish, tho. They can get agressive real fast & scary even to adults, more so to kid's little fingers & toes. If you do it, be careful & judicious about it. Don't mean to sound an alarm, but being in the middle of a feeding frenzy is not my idea of fun, esp. if the big fellas clue in & come running for the bait.

Also, avoid snorkeling or wading with kids early morning or late afternoon (natural feeding times).
When I suggested the fish feeding at The Wharf, I meant that the restaurant feeds the fish, the kids just watch from the pier. Not dangerous in the least.
