Looking for a good place for Dinner in Negril

I am in a wedding party in a week in Negril and we are looking for a "nice" place to have dinner after the wedding. We will be staying at Swept Away so we will already be eating at Feathers. Where else do you guys recomend to have a good dinner for six people, that would be fun but not too crowded. What's the word on Rick's? Thanks for the help!

Went to Rick's last summer. It was overpriced , and the food was only so-so. Our best meal was at Rockhouse - great food at decent prices. We stayed at Xtabi which had good food, but it was very expensive.

There are so many good restaurants in Negril...here are a few we have enjoyed:

Happy Banana on the cliffs, owned by ex-pat Brits. Excellent chicken stuffed with callalloo and cheese...yum.

Cosmo's on the beach - great seafood and atmosphere.

Just Natural on the cliffs would probably be wonderful - tables are set in a lovely garden, you can hardly see the other tables. We ate breakfast there a lot. Great service and food.

Rick's - skip it. Overpriced, tons of tourists, lousy service. I'd skip the Pickled Parrot too, for the same reasons (though it's fun during the day, just to swim and play there).

There are others we love but not fancy enough for the kind of dinner I think you're talking about - 3 Dives next to Xtabi on the cliffs is our very favorite but it is rustic - outdoor tables, etc. Lovely sunsets though.
<BR Liz

On the cliffs - Rockhouse. On the beach - Charela Inn (which I think has the best food and service in Jamaica). Since you are staying on the beach at SA, the cliffs might be a nice change of pace. They (Rockhouse) do a two-for-one drinks at sunset. You can eat on a deck that juts out over the water. You may want to arrange something ahead with them if you have a party of six or more. Both these are way classier than Ricks, which tries hard and misses trying for an MTV Spring Break ambiance.

One other thing about Rockhouse, if you call them in advance, they will come and pick you up. Enjoy!

Thanks for the help Ladies! Rockhouse sounds like a pretty good deal. Am I right to guess Negril is not a place to try to find a steak? I am a steak lover but get the feeling I will be living on chicken and seafood.

T-Minus 6 Days to departure!!!!
I can't remember having beef ever in Jamaica but it would be good, they are mainly free-range cattle and none are imported at this time, due to the current cow stuff.

Seafood is the very, very best stuff in Jamaica, I think - I eat fish at one or more meals a day there.

Have fun! Rockhouse should be nice, Xtabi is a good nicer one too.
<BR Liz
