Negril on the Cliffs, Where to stay

My husband and I want to go the Negril in the fall or winter and stay at one the resorts on the cliffs. We are looking at Xtabi and the private seaside cottages. If anyone knows of this property or has stayed here or knows of a good place to stay on the cliffs please advise. We just want alot of privacy and be able to lay in sun and swim and relax but want to feel sort of alone. I like the little private rock terraces in the pictures. Thanks for any help or advice. I appreciate all you guys so much.

Xtabi is one of the better properties on the cliffs. Great restuarant and awesome views. I would also check out the Rockhouse (a little bit pricier than Xtabi). Here is a link. <BR> <BR>http://www.negril.com/xtmain.htm

I would suggest checking into The Caves in Negril. I haven’t stayed there personally but the pictures look absolutely stunning. You may want to check out their website. I know if you do a text search there’s information in the archives as well. <BR> <BR>http://www.islandoutpost.com/Caves/aboutindex.html <BR>

I would suggest the one of the following: <BR>The Caves (expensive) <BR>Rockhouse, great restaurant here <BR>Tensing Pen, very similar to Rockhouse with cliffside bungalows but i think a little cheaper. The staff was incredibly nice here.

We stayed at Xtabi last year and loved it. All the cottages had private water access down the cliffs. You can arrange to have a massage in one of the caves. Ask for cottage 1 or 3 - they have ktichenettes. I think all the cottages have mini-fridges. Make sure you are in a cliff cottage and not a room or cottage across the road by the pool. The restaurant was good but kind of high. The food at Rockhouse was better and less expensive. Enjoy!

I would recommend in this order . . . Rock House, Tensing Pen and if you budget can go to The Caves . . but there is a lovely house with a pool beside Rick's Cave with great hammocks etc at . .http://www.villassurmer.com.jm - which are self-contained apartments.

my wife and i just returned from 5 nights at the rockhouse followed by a couple nights in montego bay. first with the good....the food at the rockhouse is fantastic and very reasonably priced (we stayed at round hill for two nights and were completely unimpressed compared to the rockhouse plus paid 3x as much). 3 meals a day for five days and we enjoyed every bite. plus the wait staff and tom the cat were all very relaxed and personable. <BR> <BR>the less good....we stayed for 4 nites in a studio before moving to a villa so we could play some of our cd's. the room was nice, neat and clean although we wished for a bit more space and ventilation. we then moved to villa #7 and found it to be a bit too dirty for our taste. my wife was particularly skeeved out by a very dirty (sort of caked on) bathroom. we left a couple of days early as a result. <BR> <BR>more on the not so good....the grounds are nice and secure, but by no means manicured, 3 out of the 4 floats in the pool were nearly ripped in half, and all of the towels seemed to have large stains all over them. not meaning to be nit-picky but just making the point that over 5 days all of this wore on us enough that we decided to leave a couple of days early. <BR> <BR>overall we enjoyed the rockhouse with the food being the standout. the pool area right on the water is fantastic and the staff was certainly kind and attentive.

I love small resort that allow you to enjoy the island flavor and had a great time at Rockhouse. We went in late March 2001. <BR>I loved walking out of our rustic villa to the cliffs every morning. After a few jumps (they look pretty high at first) I would dive in and go for a half mile swim across the beautiful cove. <BR>Food was great at the resort and it is a short cab ride to most local attractions. <BR>The outdoor showers were fun and romantic. The pool area is very nice and provides a great photo oportunity at sunset. Snorkling in the coves around the resort is great too. <BR>I loved it. I will be back.
