Nevis Restaurants??

Leaving in about a week for Nevis. Any suggestions for restaurants? We will be staying at the Four Seasons. Also any excursions to recommend? Thanks so much.

Can't recommend dinner at Montpelier highly enough! Definitely make reservations, and even consider hiring a driver for the evening to make it carefree.

Though it wasn't in the same category, I also liked the outdoor setting at Mt. Nevis overlooking the airport and St. Kitts for a pleasant meal.

Loved the Golden Rock for lunch and then we hit the hiking trails afterwards to look for some monkeys.

Don't forget Sunshine's next door to 4S for a great Killer Bee rum punch.

Do a search on this forum for "Nevis Restaurants" and you'll find loads of information.

There are plenty of dining opportunities on Nevis in all categories.

As ejcrowe says, don't miss Montpelier - it ithe best dining on the island. Other places (besides Four Seasons) to try:

Upscale Dining -
Nisbet Plantation Great House
Bananas
Golden Rock Inn
Hermitage
Coconut Grove
The Cooperage at Old Manor
Mount Nevis Hotel
1787 (at the Botanical Gardens)

Casual Dining -
Galipot
Oualie Beach
Double Deuce
Seafood Madness
Sunshines
Chevy's
Sunset Beach Bar
Pemo's
Rumour's
Pizza Beach
Mem's Pizza
Unella's

Go to www.nevis1.com for more information about dining on Nevis as well as what to do and see while your are there.

It looks like the restaurants are covered! I would add Cafe des Arts to the 'casual' list of restaurants...lunch and art!

As for excursions, snorkeling with Barbara Whitman, hiking with Jim Johnson, take a cab tour around the island (I like TC and Teach as drivers), and if there is horse racing, GO!

As always, ejcrowe and RoamsAround are absolutely correct about Montpelier - don't miss it.

Oualie Beach has great food. Love Coconut Grove for a nice dinner and Chevy's for a very casual one. Bananas is also excellent.
Jim Johnson does a great customized tour. Tell him what you want and he will do it.
A day trip to St. Kitts is always nice.

Highly recommend Rumours in Newcastle for their west indian buffet night on Friday's. Everything was yummy.

Golden Rock for lobster salad sandwich. Drool, drool.

And I'm with ejcrowe, killer bees at Sunshine's. Actually we really liked the salads that came with the entrees. Oh, those tomatoes were so sweet and juicy!

iw - We had the bbq dinner at Oualie and they were either having an off night, or their food is no longer that good now that Chef Jason is gone. It was probably our least favorite meal. Their breakfasts on the other hand were quite yummy.

Agree with mymoosie - the food at Oualie has only been so-so since Jason left.

I just read mymoosie report. I want to tell all that my report will not receive the A+ that hers does and deserves. I think I will just comment, not report. Thanks for an amazing report mymoosie.

Oh no, please don't feel that way kgeiss. You have to do a trip report. We all learn from each other's write-ups. I know I've gained new insight into places that I've been to before, so it goes in my "next time" file.

Besides, I'm a geek and like to spend way too much time in front of the 'puter. It's my way of being productive.
