Puerto Rico questions

We're just booking for a week in April, staying at El Conquistador. Here are my questions:

1. Travelling with 2 teens (13 and 17). Planning biolum activity. What else do you think would most grab their interest? We've been in town on a cruise stop and they are not history/fort inclined.

2. Will it be a problem getting to do some outings without renting a car? Would it make sense to get a day driver w/ car? If so, any recommendations?

3. Opinions on kayak vs. electric boat tour for biolum?

4. Suggestions for any particular tour operators- I usually expect that booking through the hotel (like the cruise trips)will be more costly- or should I rely on the hotel concierge?

Thanks.

3.

Take a trip to El Yunque the rain forest. You can then spend the rest of the day at Loquillo Beach which is not too far from there.
We have always rented a car. Driving there is quite interesting!!!

Thanks. I'd like to avoid the additional cost, if its feasible to do some of that without a car.Does anyone know?

just back from old san juan. taxi's are costly and depending on the number of your outings, it may be better economically to rent a car(though the driving is "interesting" as previous poster said)

do you mean the bio bay in fajardo or vieques??

Just so you know, you can't do the biobay tour in Vieques without spending the night. There's no air or boat transport back to the main island after dark. I think kayak tours are more fun, but if you don't want to paddle, then do the boat.

You could easily arrange tours from El Conquistador, but if you want something private, then just rent a car. It's not that bad driving around Puerto Rico, particularly if you aren't having to drive in San Juan itself. You're probably not going to save money by going on a tour if there are three of you.
