Not fond of the island but like the Riu chain...has anyone stayed here and if so how is the food? How long is the drive from the airport and is the hotel nice? Thanks Margo

The Riu in Negril is a beautiful hotel. The drive from the airport took us about 1 1/2 hrs. in February. You can take a flight from Mo Bay which takes about 15 min. The hotel, property & beach is lovely. The food was wonderful. The restaurant is huge, there is a pizza place, a restaurant that requires reservations & another poolside. We enjoyed every meal. They do not have room service. The rooms are large & have a fridge stocked with liquors, pop & juice. The bathrooms are nice too. We did not have one complaint about the hotel & look forward to returning. If you have specific questions, please post.

We stayed at Riu a year ago. Hotel was beautiful but the food wAs terrible. There were flys all over the outside buffet. Pizza taste like cardboard.

I stayed at about 8 AI's. I would say that this was the nicest, and perhaps best service. The food was about the same as other AI's. Maybe a bit better than average. <BR>The drive wasn't too bad but there was a bit of construction. But it was nearly finished in May 2002.<BR>It's on a very good beach and we really enjoyed taking mopeds up to the cliffs for sunsets and to get Jerk chicken... 3 dives on the cliffs for jerk chicken- very good.

Best value in Negril! Nice, new and modern. Good beach and lots of activities to choose from! Food's not gourmet but not bad.
