TCI Provo this May - hotel recommendations please!

We'll be in Provo the end of May for 3 nights (might extend to 4 nights). I've narrowed our hotel selection down and was wondering if you could please help with which one to go with.

We're a couple in our mid 30s. Just want to relax, enjoy the beach, snorkel. No need for night life or shopping. We want to be close to the beach (if not on the beach), clean / comfortable / updated rooms. We would prefer something less crowded, secluded if possible. Our budget is $300-400/nt (I would also entertain other hotel recommendations if they fit our needs and price range). Thanks in advance!

- The Sands (Ocean view suite)
- Regents Palm (Standard luxury room)
- West Bay Club (Studio garden room)

Also, I'll be 6 months pregnant. Is renting a car recommended or should we cab it?

We have stayed at The Sands and Regent Palms- of your 3 choices I would pick Regent Palms-the standard luxury room is very nice-beautiful bath, comfy bed, sofa / sitting area, kitchenette , small patio/terrace area Wonderful staff/service Great location to walk to many restaurants. West Bay Club is far west, nice wide beach but only a few dining options nearby. Palms 100% IMO Rent a car from Grace Bay Car rentals-excellent service, older cars but less $$ than others. They will meet you at the airport-fyi

I've stayed at all 3 of your choices. All are nice, Sands is a category less than others.

Palms feels like a Ritz or Four Seasons, but it is family friendly, and at that price you won't get ocean view. The pool has a swim-up bar, the property and service is phenomenal. During the day you can easily walk to small shopping strips, and close by you can walk to Mango Reef, Parallel23, O'Soleil and Bay Bistro for dinner. The rooms are extremely nice and luxurious.

Sands is a good mid-range property, but I feel the beds need updating, you get more bang for the buck these days at other properties. I would stay there again, but you do get more for your money at the other 2.

West Bay Club is one of my favorites. For your budget you'll get a gorgeous ocean view room, and it's quite and relaxing. You can walk to snorkel off the beach only 3 minutes away. Next door is the ultra chic Gansevoort, with a nice restaurant and some nightlife. You definitely need a car staying here to get to the best restaurants and explore.

I would rent a car. Roads are straight and flat, not much distance driving (just hard to walk sometimes in hot sun) You can get cars from numerous places for $39 a day, which is less than 1 taxi ride to somewhere, so definitely rent a car. You can try Avis or Grace Bay Car Rentals. You can have the car at the airport (or car rental can pick you up) and you'll save the $40 it will cost you to get to the resort! Then you have the car the whole time.

If they're running a special in your budget, Seven Stars is really nice too-and the beach Deck they have with live music on Saturdays, BBQ on Sundays, is terrific!

thank you everyone for your feedback!

CARIBZACK - thank you for the car rental info. i will reserve one now.

BLAMONA - between a standard luxury room at the Regents Palm and a Studio Courtyard at the West Bay Club, which one would you choose? I don't mind being a little out of the way since we'll have a car. But do you think the rooms and amenities is comparable to the Palms? What about the beach and snorkeling? Are beach chairs and umbrellas available at both locations? Thanks again for your help!

June/July is beautiful , warm water and air . Most rates drop after Easter ..not sure why you are seeing what you are. Even though you asked Blamona..FYI Regent Palms is beautiful and a step above West Bay Club. The staff will really take care of you!!

caribzack - thanks for the quick reply . i was just a little hesitant of the Palms as i read on tripadvisor that there are many kids around. i have nothing against kids, as i have one of my own and another on the way. it's just that we'll be vacationing without the baby and wanted some place that was more remote and quiet. now would you still choose the Palms Standard Luxury room over Gansevoort Beachfront Studio?
