Eschew: Echoing jacketwatch. I always book mid-level
(at least) and mid-ships...stability is prime here.

I think I also get to save $800 ... probably will talk to the TA this weekend once I have done some more homework on the price difference and what is available. I think there is no lower balcony mid ship available so the only thing left midship low is deck 3 outside, just behind the purser desk.

Update ... moving to a midship lower cabin is not in the cards. The Casino is right above on what is left. The Pricness agent joking said DW will kill me moving to a mid ship outside cabin directly below the casino. I guess it is what it is ... so we are staying put and hope for the best. The sea is calmer on the East Med anyway (compare to West Med) so let's hope it is not too bad. I will try to take notes and post a trip report. Mind you, I am not too good in posting trip reports. I think I have only post trip report once or twice. If you see my short and sweet trip report that read "great trip, DW threw up", you'll know what happened.

Actually I think you will be OK. A rear cabin doesn't get too rocky and many prefer it for the seclusion and the view of the wake. Soke folks do get nauseated from moving in a f/w direction while looking back. I originally booked the TP rear balcony but my wife said this would be a problenm for her for this reason. There is some physiologic basis to this as well. Take care and have fun. Larry

I created an account just to respond to this rediculous post! I have been on 11 cruises, 5 of them were with Carnival. All Carnival cruises were absolutely wonderful. Infact they were so great that we are planning another.

This posting doesn't worry me because I don't believe much of the detail within it. The original post makes it sound like the Carnival ship they were on was owned and run by some shady 3rd world country. I know it's always possible for some fluke like glass in a dish, but alot of what this person speaks of sounds more like paranoia to me. (people jiggling the door? come on!!) And if the glass was small enough as to not been seen until it was too late, how could such a tiny piece of glass break teeth apart in one bite?!

I just returned from my first cruise (May 9-16), which happened to be on the Carnival Legend to the W. Caribbean. I went reluctantly and with reservations (I have never really been interested in taking a cruise) but we were looking for a family vacation that would have something for everyone, including our 2 20 year old kids. So I went with low expectations (I had anticipated sea sickness, cattle car feel, poor quality of food, etc) but I was WRONG! I loved the cruise and the cruise line and the ship. I did have some initial sea sickness but began taking Dramamine daily and was fine after that. The ship was clean and well maintained. The rooms were small but comfortable and well organized. We had a balcony (unobstructed) and enjoyed it very much. The food at dinner was fantastic (except the first night - it was marginal that night). Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Restaurant food offered a nice selection and variety and was well prepared and presented. Activities were plentiful and well organized (if you wished to enjoy them). My only complaint was with being able to find seats near the pools . . . people were not supposed to be allowed to save seats (stated that after 30 minutes, belongings would be removed and held by staff to be claimed) but this was never enforced, so there were always lots of chairs that were empty but "saved". All other aspects of the cruise were very nice and we are looking forward to taking another in the future.
We did not book excursion through the cruiseline, but chose to book with local excursion groups directly (wanted the $$ to go to the local community). However, we did do our homework and checked out each company thoroughly - we had no issues with any of them at any port. Enjoyed all the ports although I did not find Belize to be much to write home about. Loved Roatan (zip-lined and then went to a resort beach at the Mayan Princess) and would love to spend a week there.

In short, I loved the cruise, despite being reluctant about it to begin with. It far exceeded my expectations!

I can't believe I opened yet another forum account just so I could respond to that quacky lady! My daughter has sailed with several different cruise lines. I, myself, have only sailed on Carnival and it would take an act of the U.S. Congress to make me change. I always book through one of their "reps", better known as agents. His name is Marc. He has booked all my tours, he even recognizes my voice.

We are from the Mountains of Kentucky and we have cruised to all points south. We have spent a week, not a cruise, at Moon Palace, one at Atlantis, and one on the Big Island.

This year we are taking both grown children and their off spring, ages 16, 10, 3, for 6 days to Canada. We will start with a couple of days in New York before the cruise and who knows where we will end up before we return home. After all, we will have the entire family together.

The trip is our treat to our family. We love Carnival so!

Bless the day I found Marc and the Big Apple lost him!!!

First I am sorry to here you had a Horrible time and that you felt discriminated against.
Myself and my family has traveled extensively stayed at may resorts we have traveled on several Cruises lines. I have never been more relaxed or comfortable than when I traveled with Carnival, Great staff, Food in the dinning room very good. The other eateries are of good quality but over all are average. The only complaint I do have is with the drink prices it just does not cost that much to make a drink but this is an area that you can control by your own indulgences. Words to describe Carnival Cruise lines; Safe, Secure, Comfortable, Inviting, Pleasant staff, Party atmosphere, Cant say any more Price is right and you do get what you pay for. A good value for the money.
