Where to stay in Seattle?
My mother and I will be sailing to Alaska on one of Princess's newer ship in July. This is our first trip to Seattle and we are unsure where to stay. Is there any hotels that provide airport shuttle and/or port shuttle? What area do we need to stay? Thanks for any help!

Last September we stayed 2 nights at the 'Comfort Suites - Seattle Center' on Roy St. and were very pleased. The rooms were nice and they have a great continental breakfast. Found out about them by asking the question you just did! They are within walking distance of the Space Needle but for the downtown attractions (not that far but too far to walk) we were dropped off by the hotel shuttle and took a bus back which dropped us off a block away. And, yes, their shuttle took us to the pier the morning we sailed but we had to get a private shuttle to the hotel from the airport.
I would not hesitate to stay there again and they were completely booked when we were there (lots of other cruisers) so I would make a reservation in advance.
Good luck!

None of the downtown hotels or those close to the waterfront offer shuttles to the airport, nor, to the best of my knowledge, to the cruise docks. The word from esd about the Comfort Suites shuttle is the first such I've heard. However, be advised that Princess uses Terminal 30, which is some distance from downtown and Pier 66, the main cruise terminal used by some other lines, so "free shuttles" from Seattle Center-area hotels/motels might not include the more distant T30.
Lodging in mid-summer in downtown Seattle can be quite pricey. Start looking now, maybe think about Priceline if you're comfortable with that approach. If it's just for one night before/after the cruise, you might just decide to stay in one of the many quite okay places near the airport, and cab to the dock when it's time to board. You could spend the evening before, and the morning before you sail, in the city, and even counting the cab or limo fares back and forth from the airport for excursions, still come out $ ahead compared to staying in some $200 room downtown.

Meant to add, you can see lots of discussion on Seattle hotels and logistics on the Alaska board at www.cruisecritic.com
