This is a silly question, really. But why bring your gun to a cruise?

If she intended to leave that bag in FL with a friend then why did she try to pick it up in GC knowing there was a gun inside it? She should know her cc permit for Wisconsin means nothing in GC and to the cruise line.?

"They do what they want to there," said the other one, Florida business owner David Meadors
"The biggest problem isn't the fines, but arbitrarilyMeadors said he thinks authorities want to make an example of him to appease anti-American sentiments among some of the nation's approximately 61,000 residents, the majority of whom are non-white.
"They don't understand that Carol Ann taking a gun with her is a way of life in the U.S," he said. "All they see is a criminal."
ruining peoples' lives."
I took some quotes from the article and pasted them here. I can't believe for the life of me why an American want to interpret other countries laws. And if there are anti-American sentiments, why would you want to go to that country.
If guns are a controversial topic in the United States, what makes our citizens think it wouldn't be an issue in other countries.
Last thought, do people research other countries they visit, or just think because they are US citizens other countries laws don't apply to them?

A: People who insist on packing do it because they can. Thanx SCOTUS.
B: People who take their weapons into areas where they are prohibited do it because it is their god-given right.
C: Anyone who disagrees is an ignorant, anti-amurrican, socialist.

I’ve often thought....why bring your gun (insert location)? I ran into a high school classmate’s mother at Home Depot awhile back, and she told me she just got concealed permit for “safety”. Why do you need to carry a gun to Home Depot? Really, why? This is no redneck—she’s a retired nurse married to a judge. She lives in an upper class development in a town of 40,000 people. You are a lot more likely to die in a car accident on the road to Home Depot than to run into criminals.
The part I don’t get about this is that: what countries would be okay with you bringing in a gun or ammunition? I mean—there are tons of places that wouldn’t be okay. Probably places where the penalty would be actually higher. Why would they think it would be okay to have one in their luggage in the first place?
The ammo is possibly a little more understandable, but I find it a little worrying that toting their gun and ammo around is so common that they didn’t notice loose ammo rolling around in their carryon. It’s not like lipstick or aspirin. You don’t need to keep rounds in your bags just in case.

Why carry a gun with a cc permit to Home depot? Well first of all these days you really don't know where a crazed person may strike. It could be a mall, a theater, places of worship, schools, a place of business like a beauty salon. When I am in the mall now I think of to believe me. It happens. Besides that there is the matter of a female, presumably older as she is retired, carrying for protection doing her errands and going about her business. As you age you do feel more vulnerable. She simply feels safer when she is packing heat so to speak.
Then on top of that if she lives in a upper class development I would think such places are targets for criminals. After all its wealthy there.
It seems to me her reasons to carry are legit. JM2C

Personally, I don't think I would have reason to be packed on a cruise unless I am a VIP. And even then, I would have my security carry it for me. Ha ha
I would never go into a cruise or travel anywhere with the thought that I would need a gun. Plus, I do not like the hassle of being questioned why I have one at my disposal - that's a waste of time for me and fellow travellers.

Going through security at the Sainte Chapelle in Paris December 2015, young man ahead of us is stopped and pulled aside because there is a knife in his backpack. He's given the choice to enter without the knife or be turned away. He's arguing that he wants to take the knife and backpack with him into the church doesn't seem to understand why this would be forbidden not unlike the woman from Wisconsin. My cousin and I moved on through and hope security was delaying him while they called the police.
