2 student girls traveling south of france
Hi guys! Me and a friend of mine (two girls, 22 years) are planning on traveling to South of France in early April for a week. We're planing on visiting mainly Provence and Nice. We won't have a car and are looking for historical sites and nice scenery.
Any ideas on things we must see? Or certain areas we should stay in, which region of Provence and where in Nice?
Thanks for your help!

Have you checked out a guidebook yet? Lonely Planet France and Let's Go France are recommended.
If you're planning on staying at hostels, check out Lonely Planet's Thorn Tree as they cater to younger tourists.

Nice is a city in Provence. Provence is a very large region with many areas that are very different. There are lots of towns, villages and cities within Provence.
You might like Aix en Provence.
It is hard to visit many areas in Provence without a car.

I noticed that you have posted the same question for Switzerland. It might be a good idea to tell us what your WHOLE trip will look like, how many days, budget, etc. You will get better advice that way.

sparkchaser has good advice. Get a guidebook or two and read about what's where in relation to what you like to do.
Aix
Arles
Avignon
Baux
Marseilles
Nimes
Villefranche-sur-mer
all have a lot to offer historically.
Don't know about getting to Baux by public transport, but all the rest are easily reached by train.
We based in Arles, and it has a lot to see and is centrally located--Roman amphitheatre and ruins, very old churches (one of the oldest in France), links to Van Gogh.
